Autofire makes things die faster (something that I really wanted for later stages), and I don't need to mash to increase my fire rate now, just hold the Auto button for a second then switch back to the standard Shot (to be able to lock the Options when needed). Plus it gives you more tick points when milking bosses like Midi.twe wrote:Should you have autofire on the whole time? Does this increase your score (sorry, I don't know much about this in Ibara)?
Amusingly, the Hori RAP's auto speed is pretty close to the rapid Shot stream of Arrange Mode. With a gap or two, of course (shot sprite limitations).
I'm still playing the PS2 version, by the way. Having 2x Shot buttons is a bonus, plus half the score display is cut off on my monitor when playing the PCB, making it harder to read my score (and thus, time suicides in particular places).
Gah, between aiming for the second loop in Mahou Daisakusen, Batrider Normal and Advanced, my 20mil Guwange target and this game, I'm stuck for choosing something to play. >.<
I think I'll sleep on it.

Broken medals chain with trying to milk Kasumi...so no scoring on 4.
I play on a cab, how can i put an autofire? there is nothing in the pcb menu.
Another question can i desactivate the special powers up on the pcb version? (like pushing select on ps2).
Thanks.

Interesting, that's why they making all thats point with Midi milking on the dvd.Autofire makes things die faster (something that I really wanted for later stages), and I don't need to mash to increase my fire rate now, just hold the Auto button for a second then switch back to the standard Shot (to be able to lock the Options when needed). Soon my copy of Ibara will arrive (i hope by the end of the month) from play asia....
So, the game is a "sequel" to Garegga and Bakraid? It plays similar to them?
(im talking about arcade mode)
Arrange mode is more cave-ish? (a sort of Mushihimesama?)
Why raizing was involved in the realization of the game?
Thanks! Ill' post my score here soon

I have that (bought it from Lik-sang too) and it works like a dream. Absolutely no lag. I connect my PS2 Hori RAP through it.

If it works anything like Garegga, it probably also makes your rank go up faster.twe wrote:Should you have autofire on the whole time? Does this increase your score (sorry, I don't know much about this in Ibara)?
Definitely much more like Garegga, though the bullets are thankfully a ways easier to see. Overall a harder game though, at least I think so.So, the game is a "sequel" to Garegga and Bakraid? It plays similar to them?
It gives you a smaller hitbox and some other things that are more "Cave-ish" than "Raizing-esque," but I'd hardly call it a "traditional" Cave game (definitely doesn't play much like Mushi), for lack of a better term, since rank control is still the main event, so to speak, except it goes up and down in short, extreme "bursts" rather than "building" over the entire course of the game.Arrange mode is more cave-ish? (a sort of Mushihimesama?)
Not Raizing itself (not sure it even technically exists anymore), but some of the programmers and such who used to work for Raizing worked on it.Why raizing was involved in the realization of the game?

No, a PS2>Neo Geo controller adaptor. Useful for superguns (many of which have Neo-geo D15 pin controller ports).Bullet wrote:twe wrote:Get this:Icarus wrote:Besides, I'm unable to play the PCB properly as I haven't got a suitable controller (I hate the NeoCD joypad). Since the Ibara HS thread over at the Swedish forum STGFAN (thread located here for those interested) has been a little slow for the last couple of months, I figured I might as well start posting scores here as well. Not that this board seems much more active at the moment. Anyway, here is my latest HS:
ARCADE MODE:
B,253,030 - Gakidou - Stage 6 - Bond (Type D) - PS2
(Can get a picture of the HS list if anybody wants one)
Not a really good run, I calculated that my score should have been around E if I wouldn't have screwed up the Kasumi milking and played stage 4 a bit better, but I'm still satisfied. Been picking up the Ibara playing again now after christmas and new years, so hopefully I'll be able to beat this score soon. My number one area of problem is the dilemma of either trying to milk Kasumi as good as I can (which always results in sky high rank on st 4 since I'm not so good at timing suicides while fighting Kasumi) or leaving her destructable missiles alone, and thereby losing a couple of million points (on a good run).
Also have been contemplating picking up the PCB for the last couple of months. It's so cheap now that it's really tempting, only problem is I need to find a supergun too so it'd probably still be a lot of money. Think I'll go for it at the end of this month anyway.

Not a very big score increase but I still feel I have to post it since it was a while ago I made any kind of progress (the first score I posted I got in the beginning of December). Didn't play so well on the first three stages, and then did really good on stage 4 and 5. I died on the second set of "greenhouse" tanks in the middle of the sixth stage. IMO this spot, together with the similar one in the beginning of the stage, are the toughest of the whole last stage. Not so much because of the round tanks alone, but rather the tanks coupled with the aimed cannons. Most of my deaths on stage 6 come from these two places.

C,831,970 - Gakidou - Stage 6 - Bond (Type D) - PS2

Came to the last boss for the first time outside of Training. Stupidly decided to try to milk it a little, since I had quite a few full bombs and a spare life, and of course forgot to keep track of how many bombs I had left. Well, at least I got an okay point increase from B,2 to C,8 (once again had quite a bad run scoring wise).

After 7 or 8 months of playing I finally made my first 1CC of Ibara tonight! Only got a score of about C,6XX,XX or something in that region, so not a new high score for me. Dropped the medals several times during the course of the game, including once after the "medal fountain" on the fifth stage and a couple of times on stage 6. So when I got to the last boss I figured I could just as well just bomb her to death without trying to milk anything (only had medal value of 300). A little bit of an anti-climax but it still feels really good of course.

ARCADE MODE:
D,952,270 - Gakidou - ALL - Bond (Type D) - PS2

My second ALL came today, this time with an actual HS increase. It felt like I played really well the whole run, but I died two times just before the last boss so I didn't get much from medal milking her (didn't matter too much though, since all I had to milk with was the one hadou I didn't save for killing the boss). Anyway I'm quite proud of this score, only wish I would have gotten those last 50,000 points to get an E before Theresa went down.

Arcade Normal
1,420,960 - ktg - Stage 2 - Bond (Type D) - PS2
Arrange Mode
11,888,770 - ktg - Stage 3 - Bond (Type D)
Concerning my Arrange Mode score, during the third stage there were three seperate instances where there were no enemies on the screen for a long period of time. The longest was at least 20 seconds with absolutely nothing to shoot. I'm assuming this was a glitch. If so, please feel free not to include my score in the rankings. Any advise on how to avoid this would be appreciated.
As far as I know my Arcade score is good. Thank you.

Aha, someone else encountered the train bug I assume! When I play Arcade mode the first train for some reason refuses to load, resulting in a five - ten second or so gap in which there is nothing to shoot. Supposedly this had to do with the PS2 laser being worn out. Never had more than one train not appear though.

Well, I've had this game for six months, so yesterday I figured it was about time to give Arrange mode a try
It had me baffled at first, but I think I've got the hang of the increase rank/bomb cycle now. It's a bit easier than Arcade, too, which is nice. I still can't beat Kasumi in Arcade, but I'm quite frequently getting onto Stage 4 in Arrange already, and Midi is nowhere near as difficult in this version. Here's my best so far:
19,777,270 - Daigohji - Stage 4 - Bond (Type D)
Also a slight improvement in Arcade mode. Only enough to bump me up one rank, but never mind.
3,520,620 - Daigohji - Stage 3 - Bond (Type D) - PS2

All scores will be updated next week, as I am in London (sightseeing, visiting family and attending London Meet IV), and without permanent internet at the moment, at least until I sort out my cousin's wireless router and MacMini.
Apologies for the inconvenience. Normal service will be resumed shortly.
