Ibara (Arcade and Arrange)

Post by Icarus »

NOTE: This thread is currently undergoing changeover to a new maintainer (jpj). Hold your score submissions until the new thread arrives.

Okay! Under agreement with Ord, the original owner of the Ibara high score thread, I've taken over the duties of maintaining the scores list, so please post your scores here now for this wonderful Raizing tribute. I've gone ahead and incorporated tables for both Arcade Mode and Arrange Mode.

If you need some hints and tips, there are two good discussions going on:
- Arcade Mode Discussion
- Arrange Mode Discussion

For both PS2 and PCB, all scores must be played on default difficulty setings of Normal/Medium Difficulty and 1mil per Extend (for Arcade) or 10mil per Extend (for Arrange). Please post your scores in this format:

Code: Select all

GAME MODE
SCORE - PLAYER NAME - STAGE REACHED - SHIP (SUBTYPE) - FORMAT
So an example score post will look like this:
Icarus wrote:ARCADE MODE:
3,639,010 - Icarus - Stage 3 - Bond (ST) - PCB
Use either (Type D) or (AB) denotation for your ship subtype, depending on which you prefer. The scoretables will be extended as more players enter their scores. Get those scores rolling in, and good luck!

Nobody seems to be posting crap scores, so here's one;

2,084,850 - freddiebamboo - Stage 3 - Bond[A] - PS2

Hopefully improve this soon - if I can just stop picking up those "special" option upgrades it would be easier.

Nothing seems to ruin a run like two rocket options spinning merrily round your ship...

Two quick questions: Arcade or Arranged?
And is that [Type A] PS2-style or [St+A] PCB-style, which are two completely different ship subtypes...?

You can cancel all Special Formations by a single press of the Select button (or Start if you're playing on the PCB).

Poor Dyne's not up yet.... I guess I'll post my score later tonight just so he can at least see the board.

Poor Wakabayashi...

Made a bit of an improvement tonight

DC906270 - 1,647,890 - Stage 2 - Bond Default- PS2 Arcade Mode

Improvements due to better medalling across first two stages. Gaining and keeping 10,000 pt medals from mid stage 2 onward, until finally getting destroyed by midis 2nd form (the aircraft thingy which fires the blue balls out)

Actually scored slightly higher, but then wiped my scores by turning off my PS2 while it was trying to "auto save". ive probably wiped off all the scores for my other games in process

This score was gained on a re-attempt on re-booting my ps2.

Finally, Dyne will have a little recognition.

Just curious.... is it just cause Dyne's slow and worse for points that everyone uses Bond? That is a good reason to, but theres also the 2nd Player port only. Like I said, just curious.

Not a problem, just curious is all. And you're welcome ^_-

Dyne requires a completely different set of strategies to Bond. If anything, using a Dodonpachi-style comparison, Bond is Type A (faster, direct, better to bullet lead with), while Dyne is Type C (wide firepower, slow movement).

Haven't given much time to Dyne yet, although I can see the positives with him, playing his (Type B) ship like Raiden DX for example ^_-

Arcade
2,373,230 - Zakk - Stage 2 - Bond(type d) - PS2

That was a few days ago, still haven't topped it despite doing better on stage 1 and having a better idea of how to handle stage 2 for score now. Just can't put it together.

I finally took apart Meidi like I wanted (all sides, including the four way purple spread shot parts) and then her last pattern totally raped me. That hurt.

This may seem way off-topic or something, but I was surfing through Archer's (ACR) website and he had this picture of high score in Ibara... I'm wondering what does the letter represent in the high score? I know it's a traditional thing for Raizing to do this, but I can just never know what the score's supposed to be with all this mystery alphabet codes.

Screenshot: (This is dated 2/25 according to Archer's website.)

It should be since it's his score if he signs it with ACR...

Edit: He posted it in his blog dated 2/25... Here's the link: http://home.r00.itscom.net/archer/kimagure/index.htm

That'll be the near-maximum for Extended Mode, then, since the maximum for the original length game (six stages) is in the 17mil range.

Speaking of Extended Mode, anyone interested in a few extra tables for Harder and Extended? ^_-

A couple boards for those? Sounds good, just gotta get some scores up. A couple of runs before school never hurt anyone did it?

It was probably around 1.3mil sfter stage 1, 3.3- 3.5mil after 2, 4.2-4.5mil after stage 3.

My best stage 1 is 1.6mil, best after stage 2 is 3.8mil.

This was a pretty good run, even kept my medals to about 1/3 of the way through 5. Got to the boss, but I've got to spend some time practicing it now.

With all the love for Arranged in the main discussion thread, I'm a little surprised that there aren't many scores for that mode. Perhaps people actually realise that Arcade is the superior mode...? ^_-

Played arrange once and decided I'd rather hammer away at arcade instead and really starting to enjoy it now. The game seems to improve the further in you get, although that stage 3 boss is really hard.

4,645,000 - TWE - Stage 3 - Bond (Type D) - PS2

Man, I really messed up the end of this run. I had two hadou gun blasts in reserve and two lives when I got to the boss. I used one hadou blast in the beginning after a quick death, then the other on the second form (which is near-impossible to dodge). I then used a bomb which totally missed the boss. I managed to dodge the final attacks for a good amount of time, but just couldn't hold on to the 4th stage.
