Ivbara question....

Post by PPA »

What are the differences between Ibara Arrange and Ibara Arcade modes?

From Imnsoniac.ac:

I didn't actually wait in line to play because, as I've mentioned before, I haven't really gotten into Ibara yet. However, the differences between the the two versions are readily apparent. Ibara Kuro features:

- Selectable characters

- Selectable ship types

- Rank meter

- Selectable options

- Visible multipliers

- Automatic pick-up of items in close proximity to ship

As for the game's "Baradise" system (think Ibara + paradise), here is a translation of the details from the pic below:

- Rank gauge fills up by picking up bombs and medals

- As Rank increases, enemies fight more fiercely

- When you cancel enemy bullets with a bomb, they turn into roses

- Collect those roses and your Rank decreases

- The higher your Rank is when the bullets change to roses, the higher the score multiplier

- With the rank gauge at MAX level the multiplier is x300

To score high you'll want to cash in a full Rank gauge, but to do so you will have to refrain from bombing until the enemies are at their meanest. This sounds like a fun system, and will certainly be preferable to that of the impenetrable Ibara, at least to most fans.

how many of those things are in arrange mode?

(i tried with search but didnt got an answer :P )

Going by the list up top, Arrange mode has everything except selectable characters/types (you have to do that in the options menu...unnecessarily stupid setup if you ask me) and auto-collection of anything except the rose medals left behind when you cancel bullets with a bomb. Otherwise it's pretty much the same IIRC.

guess the only thing that interests me between the 2 modes is that in arrange the multiplier is visible..

How do you score in arcade mode if you cant see the multiplier? :?

it doesnt have the same scoring system, no 'multiplier', scoring is mainly done through maxing out the medals and grabbing as many as you can

Yeah, the scoring systems are completely different...if you check the HS thread for Ibara, you'll notice that the current top scores for the "regular" game are less than 15 million...in Arrange, you can score between 20 and 30 million...

...on the first stage. :!:

Somewhere on here Icarus gave a good summary of the differences between arrange and Black Label. I can't remember them but I don't think arrange has a "buzz" system (Black label does).

The similarities:
- Both feature the Rank Bar, increased by collecting items (small increase) and Medals (large increase for 10k Medals)
- Both feature the Rose Multiplier controlled by the Rank Bar, up to a maximum of 300x
- Rank does affect the amount of bullets fired by enemies and bosses
- Most bullets can be cancelled with a regular bomb to create Rose Medals
- If a hadou is fired, any bullets that hit the hadou missile as it flies up the screen will change into a Medal

Now for the differences:
- Ibara Kuro features a rapidly incrementing scratch counter which adds scratching points to your score, when you come up close to bullets. I assume that the higher the scratch counter (up to +9999) the higher the amount of points you get per scratch. I'm certain that dying is the only thing to reset the scratch counter. I believe that scratching increases rank, as well.
- Ibara Kuro has magnetic items, while Ibara Arrange does not.
- In Ibara Kuro, a high rank affects both the amount of bullets fired by enemies and their speed. Maximum rank patterns are both dense and extremely fast.
- The differences between Ibara AC and Ibara AC PS2 also affect Ibara Arrange and Ibara Kuro: for example, the late appearance of the three large tanks in stage5, missing small enemies in particular stages etc.

Based on this summary and my knowledge of Kuro the games are very different...

The scratching is fun as hell and you could base a lot of the play around keeping this multiplier throughout... Only happens while firing. Gets very intense as rank increases (the higher the rank the more bullets and the scratch multiplier increases a lot). Not sure rank increases through this though. Rank does not increase from firing (with an exception at the bosses). The scratching multiplier resets after a few seconds.

The increased volume and speed of the bullets makes this very hard in several places. Bosses are a pain at max rank just like Ibara, if you use one of the powerful bullets they go to max rank pretty quickly. Its all about getting to max rank through picking up medals and then bombing... Difficulty comes in some levels when maintaining medal chain = really hard patterns.
