Hi everyone,

Sorry but I cannot play this game, I hate it with a passion, I have tried to play for the last hour but I could not even work out what my score was. In game it was 23 squiggle some numbers I can't remember squiggle.

I tried to read off the high score table but I didn't know if I shoud be reading off the left side or ride side of it and it scrolls that fast there's no way I can write it down.

I give up, if 23 squiggle means anything to anyone please post up my score just so the team can get a point or so. I played the third character along and got to Level 3 if that helps,

Leeram - Underdogs - 23 squiggle something squiggle - third one along - level 3 - mame.

Cheers

I don't have the facilities to do video production of that nature. I would be capturing off the PCB but I have no controller worth using at the moment, plus my capture card does not want to accept supergun signals.

I'm not bored or stupid enough to waste my time using states and video editing to fake a score, it does nothing for my abilities as a player.

Do you want a torrent set up, Mr Skeptic? Just because cheating apparently exists doesn't mean the board is rife with it.
Shocky wrote:Still I get this feeling that some players might use save states to skip the "routine" first couple of stages, and not necessarily even think of it as cheating, because they "would have cleared it anyway with the same or better score, it's just saving time". Why the heck would I want to do that? States are indeed good for practicing, but every replay is recorded from the moment a virtual coin is inserted to the second I finish inputting my initials.

Are you of the "wow, big score, he must be cheating" crowd?

With some people I'm skeptical. However I know Icarus is a damned good player. I trust his scores as legit.

*huff* *huff*....My thumb...*huff* *huff* ..needs amputation..

I've had it with seeing stage 1. I'm trying to blank out while playing the stage I've done it so many times...

I have the full auto mapped to 4 buttons and I still can't tell what it's doing.

DJ Incompetent - Drink & Stroll - 3,235,837 - (Edit: 5 "durrr") - Gensuke - 4?028 - MAME - acts of god I didn't die: 5

I bet you were just waiting for this weren't you. You're sitting on a 4 mil score I bet...just plotting to put my work to shame.

It was bound to happen eventually.

howmuchkeefe- Heh. Thanks. I really didn't want to try and figure out what would work for "The" and "Coop", so I just chose two symbols that looked like a "T" and "C". For all I know, they mean "Chicken fucker" or something together, but...

From what I see, Icarus has too much motivation and drive to cheat. Most of the people on this forum are the same way. Personally I don't cheat and it wouldn't matter if I did because Everyone would notice. I'm that bad. :P

I'm guessing NVIDIA drivers' NVRotate settings. At least, that's what let me TATE mine.

Shit. I forgot to put "again" in-between the last two words. The sad part? I was thinking "It was bound to happen again eventually". Why did my brain think that while my hands typed the quoted sentence above? I blame Guwange... and the rain, since Milli Vanilli told us to.

Really now.

There's at least three posts at the beginning of this thread detailing how to read the HS chart entries. If it scrolls by too fast use the mame pause to stop it so you can actually read it. If you don't want to put even that effort into reading the score, fine; but posting a score entry of '23 squiggle something squiggle' is beyond useless and a bit silly.

Sigh, went to turn my computer on this morning only to have it, well, not turn on.

I have a score of 13 million something, but I can't view the screen shot of it so I have no idea what the score is exactly. I doubt I'll have my computer up and running before the week ends, so uh, boo.

My old graphics card was a GeForce5 FX that got fried in the last hardware failure. Right now I have an ATI X550 series graphics card, but the principle is the same - just use your graphics card's display properties to TATE the desktop.

If you can't do that, track down a program called Pivot WinPortrait that lets you do the same thing. ^_-

I love playing shootemups and enjoy the thrill of a good competition. I put a lot of time and energy playing the games to be best of my ability, and enjoying learning everything there is to offer, and naturally it irks the hell out of me when some people directly or indirectly imply that my records could be faked.

I know Shocky means well. My view on the subject is that there is no point in faking a score for a web forum competition, because there is no big prize (like a major trophy or a world title) at the end of it, at least not for me. Just playing and competing against other skilled, like-minded players is enough for me, and scoreplay also extends the shelf life of the games I like.

If someone is stupid enough to fake a score just to sit at the top of the table, then its a sad, pathetic life they lead.

Anyway, if people still want to see proof of ability, you can either wait until all six STGT score replays are released at the end of the tournament, or you can take a quick look at two stage clips from my Guwange capture archive:

Player: Icarus //
- Kosame, Stage 1, +2641 chain (XVID - 20MB) <-- new personal best
- Kosame, Stage 3, No Miss, +7707 chain (XVID - 39MB)

This game seems to get less fun the more I play. I'll call it the inverse Mars Matrix effect. Losing chains has finally achieved its rage-inducing goal.

Also, random elements in rigid scoring games = no.

Ack. No confidence or focus at all tonight, too much on my mind.

Too many small errors - a single hit on the stage2 boss, or one before the food in stage3, or losing my first bar just seconds before the stage4 worm. Only good thing about tonight's practice is I know roughly how to hold the chain at the entrance to the stage5 boss.

Think I'll leave it until tomorrow to attempt the 20mil run.

Here is the usual "following teams which haven't enough players on the scoreboard yet".

-California Dudez (2 missing players)
-namakoteam (2 missing players)

-Bargiggia Team (1 missing player)
-Team Cowboy (1 missing player)
-Super Buffet S.T. (1 missing player)
-Team Canada (1 missing player)
-Team Skandinavia (1 missing player)
-Team Sweden (1 missing player)
-Underdogs (1 missing player)

*sigh*

If you aren't sure of the exact value, but know you had 3 million something (this has happened to me before lost the notice for example.) you can also type your score like this:

MrMonkeyMan - Team Cowboy - 13'XXX'XXX - ....

Though I hope you might still get the exact value before the deadline. :)

PS: And damn you, DJI. Now I have to "waste" my whole sunday on Guwange. :P ;)

EDIT:
Yeah, on the second run after I wrote that post I made a new score and simply couldn't resist to post it here. :D

Edge - Team Germany - 3'262'862 - 4 - Shishin - 5'953 (MAME)

Image

Leading to...

Code: Select all

16.Edge Team Germany 3'262'862 4 Shishin 5'953 (MAME)
17.DJ Incompetent Drink & Fly 3'235'837 5 Gensuke 4'082 (MAME)
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

But I am expecting you to pull off another score today, so I better return to the game. This is going to be somewhat interesting. :)
