NES RPG's
NES RPG's
I've been playing fewer shooters in favor of more RPG's recently. I've played all the decent RPG's I can get my hands on for my Saturn and Genesis and have been looking for some new ones on my NES.
I've beaten all the classics (Dragon Warrior series, Final Fantasy, Ultima series, Wizardry series) and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to some lesser known but still cheap and readily available American released NES RPG's I could sink my teeth into.
My most recent pruchases have been Little Ninja Brothers and Destiny of an Emperor which I am enjoying a great deal. I'm especially fond of first-person RPG's (yes, I've already beaten Dungeon Magic as well).
Thanks for the help.

I heard some good things about Magic of Sharazade and I remember liking it when I played it. It's a mix of Zelda like action-RPG and turn based battle system. EB Games has it for cheap. http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/194629.asp

I've already beaten Faxandu (which was annoyingly hard) and Crystalis. Both were great fun though. Princess Salad is more of an adventure game though (no battling or leveling).
Now Flying Warriors (I love Kung-Fu Heroes and Little Ninja Brothers) and Magic of Sharazade sound like something though (and both are pretty cheap)! Thanks a lot.

I have Legacy of the Wizard (although it isn't too much of an RPG). It's fun, but I've never gotten to into it.Blue Lander wrote:Faxanadu is pretty good, although there are better Dragon Slayer games out there. You might like Legacy of the Wizard (AKA Dragon Slayer IV) if you're in to Falcom stuff.
As far as traditional RPGs go, check out Ghost Lion. It's not as good as Dragon Warrior or Final Fantasy, but it's pretty good.
Legend of Ghost Lion doesn't seem like it would strike me. You level up based on finding objects (ala Zelda) rather than monster battles. However, thank you for point this game out, it's existence is an obscure bit of NES knowledge.
