Oh, wait...

There's a reason I haven't played much of them for 3 years.

You mean psikyo games cause ulcers?

The fact you've become an authentic psikyo legend while hardly even playing the games makes your achievements even more impressive :)

I say Dragon Blaze, I die in all the other Psikyo games from bullets that really look like they missed me, but it doesn't happen as much in Dragon Blaze.

Any shooter with really fast bullets is (apparently) too intense for me, which = overdriven stomach acid. A year and a half of that did its damage.

If I was participating in this competition, I would want a freeware week instead of a psikyo week. Psikyo shmups mop the floor with my face.

hell, I was just happy to finally see a character with my real name in a video game. I'm probably more excited about it than I should be...

[strike]Why the hell is this harder than S1999? This game actually lets you memorize things, and the dragon attack wastes big stuff before they fire.[/strike]

edit: oops i got to 1-5 and it looks like psikyo and cave had a baby Image

6 is the hardest stage, but at least the final boss is the hardest boss this time.

I get really pissed off at the Cave element, the little drifting bullets that I tend to overlook.

Agreed. The amount of bullets in 1-6 is astounding - especially for a first loop. And the bum-rush they give you right before the boss is insane.

Very cool level though.

Ok - time to go destroy my hand.

I still prefer those to the "Hello, you're dead if you haven't memorized the safe spot for this pattern!" bullets that are Psikyo's trademark. A few here or there I can deal with, but a game full of them...

A game full of them? Come on now. And I'm not sure about "safe spots." I think that implies sitting still and watching a pattern fly by. Even the most memorization heavy patterns (like the bee? on 7's second attack) require small, but unfaltering movement.

A lot of patterns do require prior knowledge and a ton of trial and error before the correct solution is found. Stage 5 boss, second form, first pattern, Stage 6 boss, first form, fast aimed sweep. Stage 6 boss, second form, instant hit laser patterns (God I hate instant hit attacks). Hornet midboss on stage7, second pattern. Most of the stage7 boss's patterns.

This isn't the slow-ass bullet patterns that Cave and Raizing are known for; these are fast, deadly, often over-precise patterns that newcomers to those patterns will be obliterated by.

The stage6 boss reminds me of a mix of Envy and Discharge, in a way.

Okay, maybe I was a bit harsh...though that doesn't diminish the presence of "Hello, I'm going to swamp the screen with near-undodgable bullets unless you know I'm coming and can kill me before I shoot anything!" enemies... :P

On a more serious note, a question: for the competition, will people who own the PS2 version be required to leave the stages random, or is stage editing allowed?

There's no editing. But wouldn't that be nice? I think I'd go with desert, sea, forest, sky.

I think that would be the order I would go in...if I could get that far.
