I'm getting Trizeal. I put my pre-order in a few weeks back. I'm sure it will be worth the extra cash. I haven't ordered anything new in a while, so it'll be an interesting package.

OMG no! What is this "e-bay" you speak of? I must start a new thread on it and ask what it is.

Now, I don't really need a DC. Astonishing, eh? While it's cheap for some and that's reason enough for them to get one, importing one makes it instantly less cheap for me and rather defeats the purpose. Considering there's really only one shmup on the system I'm interested in (that being Border Down) it's just not worth it. I still got plenty of shmups on PS2 and PCE Duo-R to play. Starting a DC collection, cheap as it may be compared to starting a PS2 collection, for example, still takes money. I'd rather spend that money for something else. Don't need it. Simple as that.
Well that's yur less if you look around you could probably get one for 30 euros give or take and all the games are downloadable your just missing out

Not buying it. My plate is quite full at the moment with games I'd much rather play. Plus, I've got a sizable backlog I'd like to work on for a while, all of it a higher priority for me than Trizeal.

That's it!

Now I absolutely totally dispise you! ;)

Seriously though, just follow your instinct. I have a feeling you might feel yourself forced to buy it in the future anyway...

I believe that the Eternal Traveler is the Arrange version of stage 4 BGM.... At least, In one of the videos, you can hear the song, and there are no vocals.

While not entirely true, it has become that. I have a good DC collection and never play it. It is basically the Border Down machine. I mean, unless you are in love with takumi, you can get your shmup on somewhere else, probably cheaper and with a much broader range.

Again, my problem with all these last minute shmups on the DC is that most of them have stunk or been available on other consoles. Oh, that and street fighter 3 coming out on the PS2 pretty much completely antiquated my DC.

I enjoy Ika and Mars Matrix, so it's a bit better for me...but yeah, I can totally understand going without one. Especially considering all the stellar releases PS2 has been getting.

I'd prefer it to a pce though, I mean damn. Cheaper too of course.

I'm definately gonna preorder this one.

I've got a question for the guys who ordered it from Sega Direct: HOW might I go about using that site if I don't know japanese? Do they take Paypal? Is there an english version of the site in there somewhere or a tutorial for using the site? :?

I believe that Sega Direct ship only to Japan. So, I'm pretty sure that most of the people here whom have secured a pre-order for the Sega Direct version have gone through a friend (or such), of whom most likely lives in Japan.

I can say Segagaga Domain. I think. Not sure of how many of the bonus items would be left at this point, but, it might be worth a shot?

I'm kinda changing my mind...maybe I might get Trizeal, the controls seem interesting. It may not be DoDonPachi 4: You're Gonna Die, but then again, I'm getting a little bored of "bullet spam" shooters.

However, I might have to wait a while though--I'm going to have to pay upwards of $70 (minus tax or S&H) for it--$60 for the game and $10 for a boot disc.

Certainly not buying it.

I played it a few days ago in the arcade and really it's an incredibly average shmup, the weapons are boring, the game is slow, it's not interesting and it's not fun.

I quite enjoyed XII Stag for some of it's design and side/tail attack features but this game just feels substandard.

I'd possibly buy it at the same price as the euro XII Stag (around $15) but even that would be pushing it.

I actually liked the look of it. It will make a refreshing change to play a shmup that doesn't force you to squeeze through the game consistantly.

Welp, there's only one way to find out how good Trizeal really is. And that's why I'm going to get it as soon as it's released.

Like I said before, I haven't been dissapointed so far with any of the recent DC shmups. I've actually been impressed. So I say, "Keep 'em coming!". Longlive the Dreamcast, the most underrated console of all time. :)

You have got good taste and a lot of sense methinks! :D

(MSX technically wasn't a console so I can happily agree here!) :P

I wonder, is there a proper english translation anywhere for that shmup song's "spoken word" lyrics.

I, in my anime-fan-esque understanding of the language, recognized only the word "pretty" at that climactic moment of the song. I noticed that as much as lyrics and vocals (and such spoken word) don't totally matter if you can get into the vibe of the song, understanding the words can add a whole new dimension!

So, do you suppose we should ask MileStone about it? Given their stance on having a fan base that spans the globe, I'm certain that they'd at least reply to an inquiry, even if they're too busy with their new game to provide a translation/transcription. Perhaps first, we could ask someone that understands vocal Japanese to give us a general feel for what she's... talking about...

Man, that song is so great. Anyway, on topic, I sent a letter of appreciation to Triangle Service for putting up those music samples, and while it didn't necessitate a reply, they... didn't reply.

They're probably busy with some last-minute arrangements, maybe. They did update the DC page a couple of hours ago (or so) with information regarding what I'm guessing is a ranking competition for the DC version of Trizeal (prizes being shirts and posters featuring their tag line, "Shooting Love," in katakana as usual). It's all in Japanese, most likely because it would be too difficult to open the competition to the entire world. You never know what could happen in the future, though...

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like it will be open to the entire world. At least it says "Internet Rankings Available through a password system on website" - so it should just be as simple as writing down a code Trizeal gives you and entering it into your web browser with your initials. (Of course, it helps if Triangle Service can stay in business to keep hosting such a ranking service...) Of course it is possible they may refuse to ship prizes overseas, but then why would they have translated their SOS and the info about rankings into english? :? .......this is a moot point anyway, we all know the winners will probably be japanese players with uber skills

p.s. Re: chaos field lyrics - it seems like personally asking Milestone corporation to translate a few sentences of japanese is overkill, I'm sure a fan somewhere will eventually do it though.

Woohoo, my first post in any of the Trizeal threads...

For some reason I'm getting quite tempted to buy this game... First of all, I found XII Stag to be decently enjoyable... maybe I'll go watch some of those demo videos and if I like what I see, I'll just put my PSP game money into Paypal or whatever and that'll be my preorder!

Hmm.... I DO like what I see, it looks like it'll have quite an old-school feel to it.
Guess I won't be getting Ridge Racer after all! Hello Trizeal!

Those shirts look pretty damn sweet :o

And on a somewhat related note, Trizeal is #2 on Lik-Sang's Top 10 Preorders. o_o

Not sure which shops would be most likely to have it out to play but I'd imagine Akiba might (they did have Border Down out back when it came out), possibly J-Type as they always have something going on.

I think the actual game is not bad, certainly not worse than GW1, it's the port which is frustrating.

I imagine the Trizeal port will be pretty decent but it's just a shame the game itself is so uninteresting, it seriously feels much like one of the dozens of raiden-lite clones that made their way to consoles over a decade back when everyone thought they could make shmups.

Got an email from PlayAsia yesterday saying that it has been shipped. Woooo! So as soon as it arrives I'll post my impressions. Can't wait.

Normally, when I get games off Ebay sent EMS they take about 4 days from Japan/HK to the UK, so hopefully this will arrive Saturday morning, or Monday.
