So, who's getting Trizeal?

Post by Specineff »

Ok. We have already ranted about how some think the developer's cry is lame, how some don't like the game even before we have played it. (I'll send a macadamia cookie to anyone who has played the game and tells me how it sucks). Let's not beat on an already dead horse. If you don't like it, don't get it.

StagXII is going to be included in the Dreamcast release. A shmup (some say it sucks, some say it doesn't) in the vein of the classic gameplay we all grew up with (Vulcan, Laser and smart bombs). No color gimmicks, no chaining-or-get-your-arse-raped mechanics. Just shoot, avoid, and bomb. On my DC. On Tate. On VGA. Because I want to see them release more games like this on the DC, and because there's more to gaming life than Gosh darned madden, and Halo; and because you don't need to be Cave or Treasure to develop an enjoyable game, I'm getting it. Who else is?

EDIT: I meant to say the Stag XII *ship* is going to be included, not the game. Sorry for the confusion.

I caved and preordered this, so yeah I'll be getting it. I don't have high expectations for it, but as long as it controls well and it's a shmup, I'm happy. I said it before on the old Trizeal thread, and I'll say it again: I would much rather play a mediocre shmup than an overhyped FPS or sports title. That's not to say that FPS and sports games, or the people who play them, are bad. Just not my cup o' chai.

That being said, the game might be great. It might be a refreshing brace of old school goodness. Or not. But it IS a shmup...and in Tate...AND in VGA...*starts drooling*

Meh, the game looks alright, but I've been a cheap bastard lately, I'm not quite ready to cough up 60 bucks on a game that I have barely any real knowledge of, save for third-hand retellings of translated hands-on impressions.

Maybe I'll snap up a used copy when someone dumps it on the Trading Forum, maybe ten years from now I'll kick myself because I missed the boat and now Trizeal is the Radiant Silvergun of the Dreamcast. We shall just have to wait and see.

Is this true? If so, I'll probably go for it.

Whoops! I meant the StagXII ship. Sorry. Go to triangleservice.com and check the Trizeal page.

I've had my preorder in for a little while, and I'm stickin' to it. There's more to life than Cave & Takumi.

The 3-weapon switching system is rather interesting- reminding me a little of Elemental Master. I think it'll be somewhat nice to have a game that's a break from DOJ's scoring system.

Having a XII Stag ship to select is a nice bonus- allowing you to play Trizeal as a semi-sequel to that game.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

(Truly, I'm happy and very thankful!)

Perhaps there should be a yes/no poll?

I put my pre-order in the first day that NCSX were accepting them.

Strangely enough, NCSX had this to report on their news page today:

"In a bit of an unorthodox request, a couple of Japanese distributors are requesting that we increase our preorder numbers for Trizeal for the DC. We're pretty set on our quantity but it was a curious business practice. Our assumption is that preorder #s from other vendors/buyers are wretched."

I feel sorry for the company who seem very passionate and I would probably order it if I had a spare $60, but I don't. And I'm not going to sell off any of my games to pay for it, unless it turns out to be excellent.

Like I said in the other thread, if one of you guys who is buying two copies would be willing to let me borrow one for a week or so, shoot me a pm. I'd pay for the shipping both ways.

*sigh* it's so wrong this is getting ported and not Ketsui

It's going to be interesting to have a brand new Dreamcast game to play right in the middle of Sony's PSP release hype. Someone should spraypaint "The DC is not dead damnit!" on Sony's offices Jet Set Radio-style :)

I have two copies ordered :P One from playasia and one from sega direct. Not sure what I'm going to do with the second yet... I won't sell it, at least not until well after the release date. I'm glad to buy or even keep two copies for that developer.

I'm going to say "I'm not getting it," but I've got this feeling I might end up with it anyway...

I've played Trizeal. It's at the Leisure Land arcade a 30 min drive from my house up in Isesaki. It's not very good. It's not wretchedly bad, or broken in any malignant way, it's just a mediocre game that is noteworthy only because it is a new shmup being released for a home system. Were it being released for a lower price (like chaos field), I'd easily buy it. No complaints there. Is it worth 60? That'll depend on how I feel when it hits store shelves.

I honestly can't afford it right now, but after my next paycheck that will change. It doesn't look amazing and has had some slightly poor word of mouth. But there are plenty of shmups that had mediocre press before they became widespread respected favorites. Two of those games are GW and MM. Back on the really old shmups BB both got somewhat bland impressions. ECM flat out hated GW, he called it a "glorified shmup meets pinball machine." No joke.

Anyways, I wanna support Triangle Service and a fellow shmup fan who is passionate.

I preordered it.

I couldn't care less about that "probably last DC game"-nonsense or the cry for help by the developers, but I liked the screenshots, which had a nice oldschool feel to them. The videos that appeared later and the LiftLiftLift minigame (which I thought was fun) assured me that I most certainly haven't just thrown 60$ out the window.

I don't expect it to be the best shooter ever, but I enjoyed my share of B-class shmups in the past and expect to easily get 60$ worth of enjoyment out of Trizeal. Actually, I'm longing for some more old-school style shooters that pick up where Shienryu left. I don't have anything against the ever-so-popular manic style of gameplay, but I got tired of it a bit lately.

I preordered. Because I know I'll like it eventually, and it'll be something that will stay in play for quite a bit of time...hopefully this isn't another Night Raid. Meaning, hopefully this port isn't broken or buggy.

I don't think I'll get to playing it for a while though... I preordered Gigawing Generations, IIDX 9th Style and Trizeal to ship all at once. And while Play-Asia's standard shipping is actually a bit faster than NCSX, it'll still be a while.

And for the record, this was before the S.O.S. message appeared on Triangle Service's site.

I haven't preordered it because I don't have the money, but I've asked for it as a gift for my birthday from my folks, so we'll see what happens.

Hmm, that sounds bad for Triangle Service...has the game been pressed yet? If so, sounds like the game will be very easy to get ahold of later. If not, it'll probably be impossible to find after awhile.

Anyway, I preordered it as well since I hear it offers traditional shooter action although I'm still not sure what XII Stag Limited, included in the game, is supposed to be.

Like the majority of gamers in the world (and possibly the majority even on the shmups board), I don't own a Dreamcast.

Ehh, it's only about $15 here, less than 10 pounds I'd imagine. Why wouldn't any shooter fan own it?

A small ray of hope perhaps, is that currently Lik-Sang's dynamic Top Pre-Orders rankings put Trizeal as #11 most popular pre-order. Which is not too bad I guess considering it is competing with PSP and DS titles...

So it's possible that NCSX are just wrongly jumping to conclusions here.

I've done the same, so it'll be a wee while before i get to play Gigawing Generations as i think it's out almost a month before Trizeal. I guess i'm just too tight to pay for seperate poatage!

I got my pre-order in @ NCSX.com assuming the deal goes thru. Loox like its not the most popular pre-order item at most other sites and the distributor is pushing ncs to get more pre-orders. I guess its all just a waiting game now.
