public vote. put all games up from said company. play the game that gets the most votes. you remember that socrates bloke, and all that 'democracy' shit who used to bang on about...?

p.s. i think there should be an option "skip raizing week".

But the ancient Greek conception of democracy was flawed from the beginning, as "the people" doing the ruling were a wealthy elite! in this contest in we allow the filthy scum Hoi Polloi to vote on whichever raizing/psikyo/cave games they want we'll end up with predictable choices and a less interesting contest. I think it'll work so much better if Edge continues to give considered choices for us to vote on.

i would say that depends on what you think we're voting for - i think we're voting on a bunch of games selected by Edge on different themes, some of which happen to be based around particular shmup developers, which isn't quite the same as what you seem to want to vote on.

We shouldnt put "EVERY" razing game in the poll....only the ones that are easily emulated on mame ensuring that everyone has a chance to play the games in the first place. But i wouldnt mind seeing more then 5 games on the list.

Voting polls is a failed democracy, because it ignores the desire of the minorities.

If 5% vote for Mahou Daisakusen while 60% vote for Batrider, everyone will have to play Batrider, even though 5% were against it. You just destroy the wishes of every minority with a voting poll, and that's why a voting poll is not democratic.

I say, each contestant should play whatever Raizing game the want, and post their score, and then we make a mathematical formula that finds out how much a score in each Raizing game would mean in another raizing game (say, Garegga), and the convert all scores to one single game. This is fair for everyone.

(I hope everyone gets I am kidding, I just want to point out that polls aren't as democratic as people like to believe :D)

In any case it wouldn't hurt trying different methods of picking/voting the week's game. That way we could see what method worked best and can learn from it in the face of possible future tournaments. :)

how is a poll with all available options, where the option with the largest and therefore majority of the vote is chosen, not democratic...? and surely by *not* having all games from a particular developy is *un*democratic, but you are severely limiting the choice of vote. also, i didn't realise you had different *degrees* of democracy; presumably graded out of a prime number. ie "this is poll is maybe 15/17 democratic, but i still aint 'appy!."

i think you lot are on crack sometimes... only shmups.com members could take something that should be so straight forward, and argue about it every which way until the most convuluted method is discovered..... :?

and for belmont... i agree. i'm sure most people on here do play on emus for older titles. look at the blazing star board! but then surely they will vote for the ones they *can* emulate...?

anyway...

Hey, I wasn't being very serious about it.

A poll isn't democratic because it ignores what the minority wants. That's all. I am not even saying it's not the best way to choose what game should be played. :)

Also to not have very option listed isn't democratic.

But this isn't about democracy, it's about WHAT DAMN RAIZING game we are going to play... I was just kidding, for god's sake :D

i know you're kidding, i just don't know why there's so much blah blah blah over *how* a game is selected, *how* it is enetered in the poll, *how* we should be voting. i mean, come on guys, i thought this was supposed to be a fun competition...?

p.s. to re-iterate, there should be a "skip raizing week" option :P

I don't see how there could be any doubt in ANYONE'S mind about what game we're picking for the Raizing week.

Wow, Edge! Nice thing you got going here. Wish I had the time to get in on this; it looks really fun. Real life sucks sometimes. Not a lot of time for gaming for me right now unfortunatley. Good luck with the competition guys.

I still don't know how to get 11,000,000 from the stage one boss. I still don't know how that weird scoring system works!
Methinks you're confusing Batrider with Bakraid.
Either way, even Bakraid's scoring system really isn't all that complicated...it's a tough bugger to master, certainly, but it's not hard to understand how it works.

I think you wouldn't have it any other way, since you and Rando wouldn't be able to complain about it if there weren't any. :P ;)

Agreed. All the necessary resources are there. Plus there's plenty of time to get acquainted with the game before the start of the playing week.

You should know by now that Raizing players love courting controversy. ^_-

I tried out Mahou Daisakusen and Bakraid last night and they were both crap (I had played them a little bit years before). What's wrong with you Raizing fans.

I don't want to say the r-word. I don't want to say the r-word. I don't want to...

Can we expect to see Team FEKA propping up the bottom of the table this playing week? ^_-

You can expect Raizing games to be propping up tables.

IF I HAD ONE.

::chokes:: Zah? You should have seen the look on my sisters boyfriends face when I explained the score system to him after he asked me how to get better scores while playing it on my cab.
Feedback will set you free.

I'm guessing the conversation went:

You: "You have to kill yourself to score well."
Him: "You have to... kill yourself?"
You: "Yeah."
Him: (°_o) "What the hell??"

If that's the case, then methinks it's worth noting the difference between "complexity" and "just plain wonkiness." ;)

I'm kind of half-wanting Bakraid to win the vote to be honest.
Just so I can chuckle at the scathing remarks towards the game that'll appear when the playing week starts. ^_-
