But the ancient Greek conception of democracy was flawed from the beginning, as "the people" doing the ruling were a wealthy elite! in this contest in we allow the filthy scum Hoi Polloi to vote on whichever raizing/psikyo/cave games they want we'll end up with predictable choices and a less interesting contest. I think it'll work so much better if Edge continues to give considered choices for us to vote on.

Voting polls is a failed democracy, because it ignores the desire of the minorities.
If 5% vote for Mahou Daisakusen while 60% vote for Batrider, everyone will have to play Batrider, even though 5% were against it. You just destroy the wishes of every minority with a voting poll, and that's why a voting poll is not democratic.
I say, each contestant should play whatever Raizing game the want, and post their score, and then we make a mathematical formula that finds out how much a score in each Raizing game would mean in another raizing game (say, Garegga), and the convert all scores to one single game. This is fair for everyone.
(I hope everyone gets I am kidding, I just want to point out that polls aren't as democratic as people like to believe

how is a poll with all available options, where the option with the largest and therefore majority of the vote is chosen, not democratic...? and surely by *not* having all games from a particular developy is *un*democratic, but you are severely limiting the choice of vote. also, i didn't realise you had different *degrees* of democracy; presumably graded out of a prime number. ie "this is poll is maybe 15/17 democratic, but i still aint 'appy!."
i think you lot are on crack sometimes... only shmups.com members could take something that should be so straight forward, and argue about it every which way until the most convuluted method is discovered.....
and for belmont... i agree. i'm sure most people on here do play on emus for older titles. look at the blazing star board! but then surely they will vote for the ones they *can* emulate...?
anyway...

Hey, I wasn't being very serious about it.
A poll isn't democratic because it ignores what the minority wants. That's all. I am not even saying it's not the best way to choose what game should be played.
Also to not have very option listed isn't democratic.
But this isn't about democracy, it's about WHAT DAMN RAIZING game we are going to play... I was just kidding, for god's sake

i know you're kidding, i just don't know why there's so much blah blah blah over *how* a game is selected, *how* it is enetered in the poll, *how* we should be voting. i mean, come on guys, i thought this was supposed to be a fun competition...?
p.s. to re-iterate, there should be a "skip raizing week" option

Either way, even Bakraid's scoring system really isn't all that complicated...it's a tough bugger to master, certainly, but it's not hard to understand how it works.Icarus wrote:Methinks you're confusing Batrider with Bakraid.Fighter17 wrote:Fuck Batrider. That game is too confusing for my taste!
I still don't know how to get 11,000,000 from the stage one boss. I still don't know how that weird scoring system works!
I think you wouldn't have it any other way, since you and Rando wouldn't be able to complain about it if there weren't any.You know, I expected Raizing Week to be filled with controversy.

Agreed. All the necessary resources are there. Plus there's plenty of time to get acquainted with the game before the start of the playing week.BulletMagnet wrote:Either way, even Bakraid's scoring system really isn't all that complicated...it's a tough bugger to master, certainly, but it's not hard to understand how it works.
HEAVEN OR HELL! DUEL 2! LETS ROCK!
You should know by now that Raizing players love courting controversy. ^_-BulletMagnet wrote:I think you wouldn't have it any other way, since you and Rando wouldn't be able to complain about it if there weren't any.![]()

I don't want to say the r-word. I don't want to say the r-word. I don't want to...

::chokes:: Zah? You should have seen the look on my sisters boyfriends face when I explained the score system to him after he asked me how to get better scores while playing it on my cab.BulletMagnet wrote:

Feedback will set you free.

I'm guessing the conversation went:Acid King wrote:::chokes:: Zah? You should have seen the look on my sisters boyfriends face when I explained the score system to him after he asked me how to get better scores while playing it on my cab.
You: "You have to kill yourself to score well."
Him: "You have to... kill yourself?"
You: "Yeah."
Him: (°_o) "What the hell??"

I'm kind of half-wanting Bakraid to win the vote to be honest.BulletMagnet wrote:If that's the case, then methinks it's worth noting the difference between "complexity" and "just plain wonkiness."
Just so I can chuckle at the scathing remarks towards the game that'll appear when the playing week starts. ^_-
