Why is this I wonder... what is it that links a shooter player to an ed banger
Ha ha ha, you beat me to it. Playing shmups with some brutal death tunes definitely is climatic.Rob wrote: Cryptopsy + Gunbird 2 = yes.
I like metal too, but the posts here make it appear that's about all everyone is listening to (I suppose that makes sense given that metal is closest to a lot of the music that appears in videogames.)MovingTarget wrote:A lot of people here seem to like metal, or listen to bands with names that would indicate that they are metal![]()

Underground is as wide as the ocean. Almost a useless term now though I use it incessantly. Hell, half the metal out there is 'underground-ish' (like some of that black metal...) I see underground bands performing in town all the time. There as underground folk music (as mentioned in another thread). What do we mean by underground?Vincere wrote:We like underground and extreme music and games, that's not really far from each other.
Pretty much is, for me. I intend on hearing the drum n bass albums mentioned a few posts back and as soon as the 15th rolls around some Foxy Digitalis-type stuff.CMoon wrote: the posts here make it appear that's about all everyone is listening to

Yes, but that's just what makes it meaningless. I rarely listen to anything that sells more than 10,000 copies. Most of what I end up listening to is in the 1000 edition run size. I also like to use the term underground, I was just trying to figure out what you mean by it.Vincere wrote:Ha ha ha. By underground I mean not mainstream. Sure some extreme metal bands play in bars etc, but have you already seen an album selling more than 150 000? Dimmu or Cradle maybe. But 99,9% of them sell at 10 000- copies.
This is what I call underground.
I've eyed the catalog a few times, downloaded some samples, but not yet. I can't decide and I'm not familiar with many of those artists. Can I send you ~$30, you pick a few albums based on what I might like? I like surprises. Sometimes.CMoon wrote: If your buying stuff from brad I wonder if you've been picking stuff up off my label too?
I've urged Madsteeldarkness (and would urge you as well) to go with the Invisible Pyramid comp since for $40 you are getting nearly 8 hours of music (basically 30 EPs by virtually every artist on the label). This is probably PMish type talk anyway, but yeah, if you are curious in anything, let me know, I'm sure we can work something out. That Foxy comment just caught me by surprise. I just put out an album by the fellow who runs that label, and we've done split releases before.Rob wrote:I've eyed the catalog a few times, downloaded some samples, but not yet. Nope, I'll have to make a mental note.Rob wrote:
Speaking of metal (haha!), have you heard the Ocean album, Acid King? Here Where Nothing Grows? 3 tracks, 65 minutes. Some seriously great slo-mo doom. Kind of similar to the Orthodox album.

Glad to be of service. That is one of my most favorite of favorites of all times. Also, I need to PM you about that Dirtnap thing. I might be able to help, plus The Earaches want me to send you gifts.MadSteelDarkness wrote:Thanks, Pa. This totally hit the spot. Now I feel lame, though, for having slept on this record for eleven frickin' years.
Well fuck. If you're gonna go straight to when the weakness started, you'll no doubt keep right on ahatin'. If you're serious about trying to like that band you should at least listen to something with Bon Scott. Powerage (my fave) or Let There Be Rock would be great places to start. The Australian release of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is top shelf as well.Rob wrote:Now to give AC/DC's Back in Black a shot. I've always hated them.
