Just wanted to to do a introdution and list what shooters I'm into ect..
It's kind of hard for me to break down a favorites list. There are shooters that I think deserve to be on the top ten list ect, but then there are the shooters that I find myself playing the most....
these are the ones I find myself playing the most
Thunder Force 5 (I'm a huge thunder force fan, TF3 made me fall in love with shooters)
Dodonpachi
Battle Garegga
Soukyugurentai (I think this is the shooter I have had the most play time with in my saturn, esp 2 player)
Gradius 5
I could list a ton of others I like and own but I kinda wanted to show what I wind up playing the most/spending the most time. I think that shows a more honest view on what your personal preferances are ect.
I just picked up Dodonpachi on PSX and Ibara on PS2 this week. I have to say I have been missing on one of the best shooters EVER!!! Dondonpachi is so destructive in a FUN way... chaotic also. I had to get the PSX vers once I heard the explosions we murdered on the SAT vers.
People seem kinda split on Ibara but I am really liking it it, but I'm a Garegga fan. I only wish Ibara had an option to flip the controls in tate, I can't flip my tv, it's way to big. Am I the only one who plays tate sideways?
Here is a list of what I own...

Dodonpachi DOJ and Espgaluda 1 were both ported to the PS2 by Arika. They are some of the best ports money can buy. Both include a superplay DVD along with the replays that are in the game itself. Both feature true low res mode as well, no blurry filters.
As for the gameplay, DDPDOJ is probably cave's hardest game. It takes everything that was good about DDP, turns it up to eleven, and throws in hypers and a rank system.
Espgaluda is the most accesable Cave game in years. The kakusi mode allows you to slow down time and navigate complicated bullet patterns, but it can also be used to rack up high scores once you master the game.
Both games are great and well worth the money.
galuda 2 hasn't been announced for ps2 yet, but we are hopeful.
