I haven't played much of it, but isn't Dimahoo essentially a remake of Daisakusen?
It's a remake in the sense that if you take the general setting of the game but change everything else about it, it can be called a remake.
The digital versions of these are playable on Switch, but likely hovering around 5 frames. Right on the edge. Not amazing, but something you can get used to if it's your only option.

Also, lol at Dimahoo being a remake. It is clearly a sequel.
Shmup Junkie measured Giga Wing at 7. Same as the Psikyo Strikers games (measured by Mark MSX). I recently tried Giga Wing again and it didn't feel good. Progear is lower and feels better.

How does that compare to the Dreamcast port? I've heard it also has some noticeable input lag.

Take this for what it's worth, I just emulated the dc port of Giga Wing 1 last night on flycast, which is pretty snappy and responsive generally, and after grinding the game on MAME recently, GW on the dreamcast felt horrible. Very noticeably sluggish in a way that Mars Matrix and Giga Wing 2 are not. I haven't popped in my DC disc in a long time, but keep in mind that there is also no slowdown on the Dreamcast port, which makes things needlessly difficult imo for GW.

Has this ever gotten a non-SuperGrafx physical home release? I have it on SuperGrafx, but I still REALLY want the (Japanese) PCB for this ultra rad game and can never find it.
For Steven,

You'll need a Darksoft CPS1/CPS1.5 kit here to play the Capcom CPS1-based 1941 Counter Attack game (circa February of 1990 release in the Japanese game centers): https://www.highscoresaves.com/Darksoft ... e0d198380a

Yes, High Score Saves does ship to Japan from the USA -- so no worries in that respective department.

Huh. I wonder how that compares to the price of a real Japanese 1941 Counter Attack PCB. I've seen prices for the overseas version before and I don't know what the Japanese version goes for. There's honestly very little on CPS1 that I am interested in playing, especially since a lot of the games on it seem to be horizontal instead of vertical and I'm definitely not going to rotate my monitor, but I'll consider it. I'm also not very familiar with Capcom-developed games at all. I've played 1942 (arcade), 1941 Counter Attack (arcade + SuperGrafx), Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts a long time ago at a friend's house, Daimakaimura on SuperGrafx.............. uh...................................... and I think that's all. I don't really know anything about Capcom.

Bro needs to play 19XX and Progear
Indeed, I do want to try 19XX eventually. I think Taito Hey has it in right now. I have played Progear, however.

Progear on Switch feels alright but then when I play the game in HEY or Mikado I end up zooming around all over the place and dying in places I never do on the Switch version because I'm not used to how responsive it is. So I must be compensating for the lag in the Switch version. I don't have that problem with ESP Rade or Mushi or DOJ so I guess the Switch version is way laggy. The PC version of Progear feels pretty snappy at least but that's the only game I've bought from the collection on Steam so far so I can't compare how the other games feel.

Giga Wing feels straight up jank though on Switch without a doubt and I also feel the other games are a bit funky too. That and awful awful over-engineered menu system means I definitely wouldn't buy this for that price just for a physical copy. They practically give this and Stadium 2 away these days.

LR have failed to deliver to me in N.Ireland though - stuff just disappears during transit and I've given up on them so if I do get this I'll probably end up getting via a scalper. :(
Honestly, I mostly just wait and buy LRG games off ebay once they land. I pay a bit of a markup, but at least I don't have some pre-order floating for 14+ months.

He mentions the DC port as equally laggy in the video. In another video he compares the Switch and DC version of Gunbird 2, both are also similar.

The DC version has some pretty bad scaling as well. I remember at the time, before I understood these things, wondering why it had ripples in the scrolling. Whilst I loved the DC, I couldn't understand why it couldn't scroll as smoothly as my Commodore 64 could! Obviously I now know it's shimmering from the scaling. The DC port was fine at the time, but definitely not the best way to play today.
