I'm more inclined to believe that APM3 can't do multiplayer without online option as per Sega's demands.

Anyway, it's weird this is getting an arcade release - I heard that, other than Exarcadia, nobody was making "joystick games" anymore.

Sounds a bit more likely, if even the bloody Switch version has multiplayer.
But then why's the Steam version also listed as 1P only?

The detail on Glinda's mooscles and the clothing in general give me hope, but the Russian dolls look they've been given a hasty, nasty vectoring, and poor Mao Mao's had a pressurewasher taken to her to ensure that she can't be distinguished from any other moeblob on the block.

EmperorIng wrote: Fri Nov 08, 2024 5:34 pm I just hope that it isn't braindead easy. It would be great if it looped, but that's asking a lot in this day and age. I kind of want fast bullets instead of bullet hell. This, however, just feels the most unlikely of all. Who makes fast bullet shit outside of MOSS these days?
What's the general consensus on the modernisation of Success' Cotton Reboot/RnR? Directly comparing the new and the old, what did they add that worked with or enhanced the framework of the original formula, and what were just straight up more modern concessions?

I had a blast with RnR, but I came at it as a Debbie Dumbshit casual who is definitely not conversant with the originals.
I just thought, absent of any gameplay vids, that's as good a line of inquiry for where this journey might take us.
Even if we all know we'll be catching the train out of Kyoto station for the trip.

Feels like Success have been reinvesting in arcades lately? They did something similar with Cotton Rock'n Roll, which was in arcades for about three months before consoles. Kasiori ended up getting an arcade version too. Not sure if it's a big moneymaker for them, or if it's just a prestige thing.

is probably the reason. I've never seen an APM3 with a 2P side and I wouldn't be surprised if such a thing doesn't exist. Too bad they use the awful Vewlix layout. Lol yuck who the fuck likes Vewlix?

This having an arcade release is indeed reassuring, so hopefully it is of arcade quality and difficulty.

Also, what is going on with Mao Mao? Is it even possible for a human to turn the torso that far without breaking something?

what's the point of making a Switch version, a PS5 version but NOT making a PS4 version? I mean you've made a significant downgrade to run anything on Switch, why the hell then not on PS4? LOL...

It's probably unintentional, but the contrails coming behind Hien's arm almost make it look like he's holding Strider Hiryu's cypher

Keaton also seems de-borged

By the by, not a shmup, but Success' Kasiori for Switch at least is on sale worldwide it seems at a record 70% off.

https://www.dekudeals.com/items/kasiori

It actually got an ARM3 arcade release which is pretty interesting for a puzzle game like this. For $2.10 USD / $2.70 CDN and it got a sole 81 review on MC, hey, why not? It's also on Steam BTW.

And it even features Cotton!

The way the characters are forced to stand at the same height looks odd. Keaton looks like he would make a fine jockey.

Edit: Looked up some character profiles from the original games. Keaton is supposed to be over 6 feet tall and Mao Mao is 5'3", which makes that new artwork even more perplexing. It's possible Keaton's robot body is shorter, though.

You probably shouldn't click on the updated website character pages that display the jets, then...
There's a doofy kind of charm to them that is definitely reminiscent of RnR (even if aesthetically that title's a whole other ballgame), and I think they just look as rough as they do because they've been awkwardly scaled for those pages, rather than the actual, in game size.
Unfortunate.

But I'm also currently replaying both RnR and Hamham's Sonic Wings rev, so that combo's got me optimistic still.

Additionally: special edition for Swatch/PS5 apparently includes a single CD (ala Special's babby-disc) and a Mao Mao patch to sew onto your Cool Guy Bomber Jacket.

Looks like they added the PS4 version to the website now. Still no mention of who the developers are, though.

They do ever since the PS2 days at least.

ETA: And yeah, just licencing it out. The game seems to be in development by Success internally as they've been saying they have recruited old Video System staffers for more than just supervising, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're hiring other companies for the core development, indeed.

PS4 is digital only, so on the PS4 net store thing if they decide to have preorders for it.

I forgot this game exists. I'm also having difficulty remembering if the average N64 game has better textures than this.

I feel like they announced this game before any work was even done on the game. It is like a WTF at this time? Maybe they will just recycle code and assets but give it a shiny new coat of paint. I cannot see how they plan on releasing this anytime soon without even a trailer and a handful of screenshots taken from the same unfinished stage.
A Hardcore gamers reaction to the Lack of Kinect games. Apparently i could of played Dodonpachi with it if i beat a entirely in Japanese Visual Novel piece of shit game called Instant Brain

Up to version 0.02...

(not to belabor the point, but to hate on something that's clearly states it's in 'version 0.0x' demonstrates perhaps a lack of understanding of... well, the creation of anything. To put it diplomatically, you may be saying a lot more about yourself, than the thing you're commenting on. Just saying.)

Version # is not relevant. They announced the game for May 2025. That means it must be finished in March. February:

I don't understand if it's a "Radirgy" graphics or if it's just low-def...and if it is, why? It looks "incomplete" as if some textures were missing :?
And this is very noticeable because the artwork on the sides is in very high definition.

People are believing these are 3D graphics and it's just photoshopped 2D.

It's shitty graphics even if it was 2D anyway...In 2025, something like this is outrageous from any perspective, regardless of the size of the team and the budget...maybe it's nicer to look at in motion, I hope... I know I won't say no to this game anyway.

It kind of looks like they used screenshots of Google Earth to make the backgrounds. Maybe they put their effort into game design and stuff instead of the graphics. Or maybe they didn't put in any effort at all beyond changing Mao Mao's design very slightly between versions 0.01 and 0.02.

In any case, I'm going to let other people be the test subjects for this game. Tell me if it's good, okay?

At least there's a chance that this build is from a while ago. I remember when Cotton Rock 'n' Roll was announced and it looked... probably still better than this, but they certainly cleaned that game's graphics up a huge amount prior to release, a period of time which was admittedly more than just a few months prior to release, but hopefully this game's good or whatever.
