Best way to play modern arcade games in windows?

I have read about stuff like teknoparrot, Whats my best bet if i wanna play some pokken, modern mario kart arcade, and some shmups made after 2010? I appreciate this forum so much!

There likely isn't a single best way.

From what (little) I know it sounds like you're on the right track with Mario kart. You might find another emulator/build is required for other titles.

The key thing I would like look into is then which controllers and whether or not something like joy2key or some other re-mapping tool will give you the controls you are after.

Beyond that I don't know if there's at least close home versions that might be a bit easier to run than the native arcade versions for some of these kinds of titles?

The shmups I wanna primarily find some stuff not as well known that still got a full arcade release, big fan of cave and the likes - I have a 360 so I can play lots, but I am jw if there are ways to play modern revisions of stuff
