I loved Prince of Persia. I thought it was incredibly difficult when I was younger (used to fear the loud chomping gates) but found it pretty easy when I replayed it like 8 years later.

Many many ds games use flat polygons with texturemaps as sprites and for background layers. More or less everything Castlevania DS is flat quads with textures. Tons of benefits, more sprites at once than with 2d, free sprite rotation and zooming, more paralax layers and so on. Advance Wars DS as well.

And the backgrounds in the kingsquest games were stored in vectors too keep them small and make it possible to have lots of locations in little space.
The characters are normal pixelart afaik, no vectors.
