Horror Story is fucking awesome. I love that game, and I am super happy that they are putting in both versions of the game.

Uemura-san is now saying that checkpoints and checkpoint recovery are absolutely essential. Also that both the 1P and 2P versions of Hellfire were released in Japan, but the 2P version is by far more common.

Oh yeah, release date is July 20th, so not too long of a wait.

Uemura-san says that the version of Horror Story where you start in America was supposed to be the overseas version, but both versions got released in Japan for some reason. America start version is quite uncommon, however.

I never mentioned it before, but when I last met Uemura-san he said he thought it would be Dash Yarou since the screen orientation in the previous collections' non-STG titles were the opposite of the STGs, but I guess not this time. He mentioned the same thing here just now.

Looks like lots of people thought it would be Dash Yarou, Horror Story, Snow Bros, or Knuckle Bash... and Uemura-san is joking about Mahjong Sisters lol. Yeah, that's not going to happen.

Cool, Taito Hey is doing the field test again. I will go test them if I don't forget.

Preorders are up, and I just preordered both of them from Amazon.

I have never seen M2 ShotTriggers games in a brick and mortar store except for Ray'z, so I would not count on being able to find them in a store if you want them. I remember the previous Toaplan collection sold out in brick and mortar stores within like a day or so.

They mentioned something interesting about Toyama Yuuichi just now, but I wasn't really listening, so I will have to go back later to check.

Now it is time for Uemura-san to play Hellfire. This will be very interesting. Oh shit 2P version has gadgets this time!

Looks like when Uemura-san was making the game he most worried about... I think he said making the parts of the stages that you can collide with since he had never done this type of game before.

Well, I thought he was going to play, but Miyagi is playing instead.

Oh hey there's Toyama in the chat lol

Gadgets will be explained next time.

Now Uemura-san is talking about Tokyo Game Music Show, which is in 2 days, and he will be there, both at his booth and playing live with his band and he's talking about the stuff that he will have for sale there.

Oh hey there is the card from the live that was drawn by the person that drew CATS. I have that. He's saying that this is how CATS' hair normally is according to the CATS designer.

Oh cool, we get to hear HELLFIRE 2023 here now, apparently.

Is the Teki Paki version the same as previous? I can’t understand Japanese but the stream graphics indicate it might be different?

Oh well, another DLC to spare!

Any mention about a booklet when you order from Amazon with the STG titles? I hope they do that for this title as well.
I’ve ordered the PS4 version but couldn’t see any mention of it. I seemed to recall they added it the older titles Amazon listings after a little while, hopefully they will add it to early orders.

Is DoDonPachi Daioujou also online on Amazon? What is the difference between the 2 switch versions? They cost the same.

Next stream is when and about what? Any words on arcade Garage 4?

That shot of the full spread array makes it look like some fiendish eroge/dinner-set hybrid device.

That's a pretty neat idea though, about keeping your hands clean while handling snacks! I laughed at first, but then considered all the money I'd save not having to buy wetwipes for my cheeto-mongling meathooks! Although that is why they invented chopsticks! :o

This cover in particular looks like it was designed for the Switch first and foremost. The PS4 version has some unfortunate cropping.

It is. The alt cover will be Horror Story, but they haven't shown what it is yet.

Yeah it's really bad. When I saw the PS4 cover I was like WTF is that cropping? PS4 always gets screwed with the cropping on the box art, but it makes up for it by having lower input lag than the Switch versions, which I think is a fair trade!

Not gonna lie, I'll take the worst crop for .1ms reduced lag; for a whole frame, you can sell me a disc in a brown paper bag with "SHUMPIN GOOD TYMEZ Y'ALLLL" and a doodle of Iceman and Schneider blazing obscenely massive blunts sharpied onto it (Ltd Ed is signed by Joker Jun).

Actually fuck that sounds rad. :o

They showed the logo and announced that the game will be playable at the Dodonpachi event that will take place at the a-cho game center in Kyoto on April 29th-30th.

Has M2 done any additional location tests or other events nearer to the game releases for their previous games? I'm just gonna miss being in Japan for this release, but will be in Tokyo and Osaka from late June to mid-July: after the announced Hey event, but just before the game release (which I've ordered from Amazon anyway, gotta get that Horror Story alternate cover!).

I'm actually excited for another Teki-Paki code to give to a friend who has been playing the RPG Trails to Azure... which has a mini-game that is a lot like Teki-Paki!

Taito Hey location tested M2 ShotTriggers Hishouzame Super Easy, Same! 1P custom arrange mode, and regular Wardner for some odd reason back in like October or something, and of course they went with none of those and put FixEight and Batsugun Special in the arcade instead, replacing Dogyuun!! and V-V. Both are still there as of 2 days ago when I went to Akiba.

I feel like almost everyone who likes shooting games is coming to Japan at the wrong times this year; U-Brand 10th anniversary live was in January, free Raiden III x Mikado live was in February, another free Raiden III x Mikado live was a few weeks ago, Tokyo Game Music Show (with a bunch of awesome shooting devs/composers) is tomorrow, Daioujou test thing is later this month (probably not going to this because I really don't want to take off work to go all the way to Kyoto to play a game that I already have on PS2 for a few minutes), Go Sato Band + BETTA FLASH joint live next month, Taito Hey location test in June~July...

I am always looking for excuses to go to Taito Hey or Mikado or Akiba or whatever, so PM me or whatever if you want to go there with me. I might be super busy in June~July, but we will see.

Got the flyer.
Spoiler
Image
I don't have the poster yet, sadly. It was raining very heavily today and I didn't have a way to get it home without getting it completely soaked, so I decided not to get one today. I am starting to like this artwork more every time I see it.

Here is Joker Jun with the actual poster: https://twitter.com/u_brand_/status/1647150827788988416

I think the huge text in the middle kind of ruins the poster and I wish it was just a bigger version of the flyer.

The official website is up. It's not on the M2 ShotTriggers website, so you have to go there directly.

https://m2stg.com/zerofire/index.php

It looks like we might not get a book with the first printing this time, just a set of 3 stickers. That's disappointing.

I hope I don't forget to go to the location test. It's getting really fucking hot outside, though, so I really don't want to go anywhere~

Pre-ordered mine from Play Asia on PS4 (would love it on both really, but too much other games to buy at the moment).

Does anyone know if Horror Story will be on the disc or DLC?

For that matter, will all extra (assume PC Engine/Megadrive versions) stuff be on the disc?

It did very much piss me off that the previous 2 Toaplan Garages had DLC content even if you bought the disc! :|
Been playing R-Type since 1987 - Still can't get past level four!

Why is the cover art so ugly? Same and Kyuukyoku look both gorgeous but this looks like a 20 € no name developer STG first time attempt or something like that :(

It's the same guy who did the cover art for Saturn Battle Garegga and some other stuff, apparently. Yeah, I don't get it either. I do like it more as I see it more often, but it still seems a bit... generic? Or something like that.
