Good "Mech" based Shmups?

I had the impression it was more of a "survival" award; does the point accrual stop if one moves about? Never noticed if it does nor not.

I'd say it's not worth mentioning because Special sucks. ;) "Before Christ"-mode is stupid and the normal game suffers because the CD-format introduces brief pauses to the gameplay between stages when the system loads the next music track.

Stick with the hu-card.
If it saves somebody from getting Special, then wouldn't it be worth mentioning?

Besides, I'd like to see what the soundtrack's like on Special (though I'll probably download it somewhere to find out first).

Has nobody mentioned Psyvariar 2 yet? The player crafts in that are definitely mechs. Level up to transform your mech, buzz dense patterns of bullets to level up, view sweet VGA box graphics and amazing soundtrack while buzzing :D
