*whew* Another successful SoCal hookup has come and gone...10 hours sure went by quickly...Much too quickly..I guess its a blessing and curse...It goes fast because you're having fun but before ya know it, its time to wrap it up.
Personally I had a blast..Games on tap were: ESPgaluda2, Ketsui, Progear, skyshark, GhoulsnGhosts, RBFF2, Samurai Shodown 1-2-5special, Puzzlebobble, SVCC, MoTW, Star Control 2 (3DO), MarioKart (SNES), Metal slug 3 & 6, Guwange, ESPrade, DDP doj, Ibara, SmashTV, KoF...So many games so little time.
First off, I wanted to thank the following people for helping me set up for
the hookup and clean up afterwards: Ramus, Stuffmonger, Bulletnyourass, SPark and Zenimus.
@Ramus: Thanks for snagging all the drinks and lugging em up the stairs. And a bigger thanks for getting Sara her obligatory morning Starbucks Coffee. (I hate that place) heh. Next time you will have to play some Galuda2 with MonkeyD aka Sparky. He put on an impressive scoring orgy at the end of the hookup, knocking out DBV from the top scoring spot..We will definitely have to keep StarControl2 ready to go next time. I will have my revenge against ya. That Game kicks ass on so many levels, I wish we had put it back on for the later portion of the hookup. Don't hate on Smash TV baby!
@Stuffmonger: thanks for wiring up my impress for 6button. Hopefully we'll have that molex? connector to finish the job by the time of the next meet. If you find it online please lmk and I'll either buy it or paypal funds your way. Thanks also for your efforts thruout the day, start to finish. You and I both need to brush up on our StarControl2 skills. Ramus waxed us both.
@Bulletnyourass: Thanks man for all your efforts. I really appreciated you going to out to pick up the nametags. I wish I had time to play Progear with ya, but it was pretty hectic running around as the host. I could never seem to stay in one place for long until it got closer to the end...Thanks for getting the Godfatha on the horn for me. I was beginning to worry I'd wake up and find a monitorless egret2 laying in my bed.
@Spark: thanks for finding the time in your busy schedule to bring your sam sho skills to the hookup. I was glad to cya getting in alot of playing time. You deserve it fellow Pappa. Seems we hardly have time to do this sort of thing anymore.
@Zenimus: Our puzzlebobble paths crossed only too briefly this time around. However, I'm still suspicious regarding the circumstances that cancelled your planned trip to the mountains when it looked as if you couldn't get out of it...A wildfire breaking out on the same day as the hookup? Pure coincidence? We'll be sure to keep any matches outta your reach at the next hookup

must say however, that for a shmup guy, you were spending an awful lot of time on the neo fighting games.

@MonkeyD: What can I say? Displaying mad scoring skills on ESPGaluda2 on his first or 2nd time playing it? When questioned about it, he answered "well I just watch the videos and figured it out"...well the ladies better hope he doesn't watch Pron. I seriously need you to cruise by one of these days and give me a tutorial on how to properly play ESPGaluda2.
@Iconsx and Matsu: Thanks for finding time in your busy schedules to come down and hang out with us. Thanks again for helping me get my Candy Cab situation where I want it to be. Matsu helped me get my nonfunctioning Atomiswave cab back to his place and bring the Egret2 and Astro2 cabs up the stairs. A major task indeed. It was a great shmumeet, it was great to see some new faces and some new games. I like to thank Droid for being a gracious host and accomadating. I finally got to play Metal Slug 6 and played Espagaulda 2 which i still need some practice. Great setup though. It was great i might be willing to come down again.

hey guys. i just registered but i have been readin around as a guest for a month or so. if u feel like takin a new guy into your shmupmeet lemme kno im 17 and live around LA so it may be really hard for me to get there as i dont have my license, but if im able to get there i can at least bring a lot of soda or chips. i just recently started playing shmups as i got mushihimesama, ibara, radilgy, dodonpachi, etc (for PS2) and i find them really fun (and freakin hard at times ) to play. other than that i play bemani games (big beatmaniaIIDX fan) and fighting games (CvS2, SF3:3rdS,MSHvS, etc.) so if u want me to bring any of those PS2 games, i can do that too. the only game i actually have for my cab is MSHvSF (CPS2). the cab im currently buying is a Sega Aero City from Matsu, the coolest (if not only) cab seller ive met in socal.
