OK I'm coding on a new shmup *gasp* and i have a unique boss idea. Basicaly this will be a conglomerate of connected polygon tiles. I need a Japanese name for these bosses. The work Kusudama comes to mind but I don't know if tha adiquatly describes an amorphous mass or polygones. I would prefer something elegant yet miniscing. I know there are some fluent people here so this is just the place it seems. I would also like the word to work for the main title. If you can offer help please do. Maybe something that describes an irregular ball like mass of polygons.
please no names like poopblob I'm serious on this project.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Umh, kusudama as in 薬玉? Medicine ball? So, you want a word that means mesh? I think you should volunteer up some more imagery in English as "irregular ball like mass of polygons" in Japanese isn't exactly going to be threatening...

Perhaps not.
Ok how about like "Garbage Ball' or "Polygon Ball". It doesn't have to be meicing guess jus make sence. Or if ou could do something like "Amorphus Planet" that would be better. Or "Cluster Planet"
words that descrigbe a solid random planet/star would be goood. I hope i'm not confusing the heck outta everyone...
Actually Cluster Planet sounds good to me...

For which, unfortunately, 塊 (Katamari) would probably be good for that meaning if you wanted an actual-use foreign origin word, as opposed to クラスター (kurasutaa for cluster).
You could try something like 多結晶性 (takesshousei, meaning polycrystalline) 惑星 (wakusei, planet) I suppose. Might as well just pull random similar words from a dictionary and see what sounds good.
Yeah. A lot of Japanese titles aren't real words to begin with, merely a collection of kanji that could be interpreted to have an interesting meaning.
Puns are also popular, like: 多角星 which combines planet with polygon in a word that is pronounced the same as diversity (or something like that). Personally, I don't think it sounds very good: takakusei.

Yes it's a shame the word doesn't sound pretty to you because that's EXACTLY how I would describe the gameplay. Perhaps i could kick it into gear and produce a rough screen in a bit.....

Don't let my taste in names deter you if you want to use it. I think most shooters have abyssmal names: donpachi, mushihimesama, daimahou, ESP Galuda, Rajirugi, etc.
A larger list of nouns/verbs that describe your game might yield a better name.
certinly! I'm glad you are wlling to help me add some flavor.
Basically this is the set story, or at least a vague description of the conflice.
In centuries past, a ______ formed in space. It threatned to spread like cancer and consume the world. It grew and became a looming monstrosity. The skies burned and many men gave their lives trying to dismantle it.
Well this is kind of a poor example, Each polygone will spawn attached polygons at it's sides making like a budding yeast type of image.
This model has centeralized reproduction but cells may add on at more random shapes.
still having trouble with the hexagon rotations but this should give you a rough idea.
