[quote="Sword"]Warning Forever - Been playing this quite a lot. It's simple, but great fun. I guess i should post in the highscore thread..
quote]
i never heard of warning forever. am i missing out?

i recently bought all the new shooters (ibara, homura, under defeat, rajirugi), but im back to mushihimesama going for a 1cc on maniac. stupid arrange mode ruined me, im trying to get my balls back.

its nice to see shikigami no shiro II getting a lot of play, i really enjoy that game. III is harder with more detailed backgrounds from what i remember. cant wait for a port.

oh and i left my usb saturn controller at work so during lunch i get in a few games of megadrive shmups. yay. i should probably get mame though, too bad it hates me and never wants to work.

It's a simple but fun home-made shmup for the PC which has you fighting a single boss over and over again, but each time you beat him he comes back with nastier attacks. The full game is free, so there's no reason not to try it: head over to the PC Shmups Database and find the link to DL it (and a ton more freeware/demo shmups).

Yes. :)
Warning Forever is about as complex as a cardboard box, but it's still great fun. It starts out relatively easy, but once you get to the later stages it gets really really mean.

There's a wiki page if you want a quick look at WF. Otherwise, there's the new highscore thread with a link to download it.

thanks@sword+bulletmagnet. i downloaded warning forever and played a few rounds. i like it. the game gets tough but its simplicity is perfect for those "breaks" from work.

I made a bet before I bought it. I was completely sure to quit after the first month. Now I´m hooked.
After all that stuff that I heard about that game, you could as well bet for quitting crack after the first month.
well, I did that.
Just be sure not to urinate in an empty soda bottle because you`re too hooked to go to the bathroom.
naw, it´s not like that, really. It´s just this virtual world has become so close, yet so vast in its depth you just can´t bring yourself to quit completely. Not playing for a day or so is not a problem. But cancelling your account, saying you´ll never go there again, that is.

Just wait until you hit level60.

You'll spend hours standing around Orgrimmar/Ironforge looking for a group to run an instance with. And you're highly unlikely to get a group unless you're one of the required classes (Priest, Mage, Warrior).

Everything becomes extremely expensive, despite quests giving you 4x the amount of gold they're usually worth on completion. Time spent doing farming runs increases exponentially due to the cost of gear and quest fees when you do level60 quests. (Not to mention the repair costs of rare and epic items. -_-;; )

Loads of frickin' low-level idiots constantly pestering you to help them, just because you have 'Level 60' as part of your stats. And, apparently, every level60 player is near invincible, right? I don't mind helping usually if I'm not doing anything, but I don't need 10 private messages every minute from lowbies wanting boosting through some random instance, or help with corpsecamping enemy players.

Running a guild is even worse, the last one I was helping out with was full of uncooperative muppets that spent more time moaning about stuff than helping out guild members. The guild eventually disbanded, all the officers and both guild masters left frustrated with the stupidity of the other guild members.

Plus the fact that unless you are part of a massive, organised raiding guild doing Molten Core, Ahn'Qiraj etc, the amount of available fun stuff decreases rapidly, with only farming, occasional quests, and PvP left to do.

So yeah, WoW is fun if the conditions are right. However, due to most/all of the above reasons, I quit the game (full on character and account delete). You'll enjoy it if you can find some guys to run with regularly, but the novelty wears off quite quickly after you hit a certain point in the game.

Shmupwise?

Gigawing 2, Border Down, and a bit of Dodonpachi earlier in the week.

But mostly it's been The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360 version), which seems to be eating up all of my free time.

Really freaking close to beating Radio Zonde. I played 1 credit today, started sharp, screwed up a ton in stages 7-8, nearly got to the last bar anyway. I wish more people would play this. I'm sure there are 100 people here who feel that way about 50 other games, though.

yeah, I´m prepared for that and won´t mind quitting at all. I´m not usually someone too keen on this whole exploration aspect in games, but the thrill in WoW, to me, comes from being in so much danger all the time. I just love walking through territory that is way too high for my level, knowing just one enemy can tear me to shreds easily, being afraid all the time, and then surviving and reaching a new windrider post.
I also like the whole PvP aspect a lot. It works exceptionally well in channelling my aggression. I´m playing horde and consider alliance to be the lowest scumbags on Azeroth :) . Those are feelings I´d never allow myself in reality, but as it´s a fantasy world, it´s ok.

I tried other MMORPGs before, and they were all shit. Not even the simplest things would work, e.g. I´d do a close range attack on an enemy standing on the other side of the screen, and my character would show the attack animation, the enemy would show the hit animation, yet with dozens of feet in between both. But in WoW, I have to face an enemy to put spells on him, so if he´s dodging around madly, I won´t hit him. There´s actually skill involved, and not just patience to level up enough.

Another thing that intrigues me is this whole team tactics aspect. Until now, I just saw a glimpse, but once I´m in a real guild using teamspeak all the time, this ´ll get a lot more interesting, I think.

I've been playing three recent shareware games I purchased. Bullet Candy, http://www.charliesgames.com/ is an excellent arena shooter. This game is tough as nails and it should appeal to manic shmup fans. Lots of bullets flying around for an arena shooter.

I'm also having fun with RIP 2: Rip strikes back, http://www.elephant-games.com/moreinfo.php?url=ripsb
It's a Crimsonland style arena shooter. Very well done game. In the story mode there's even a shmupish boss battle level. Survival/rush mode could use some tweaking but overall this game is fantastic.

I'm also getting back into Phoenicas, http://www.phoenicas.com/
Usually I find the majority of Galaxian style shareware games to be subpar but this one is amazing. The game is challenging and has a deep scoring system. Do yourself a favor and check these games out.

Had a bit of GuitarFreaksV and beatmania IIDX RED yesterday.

This morning I hit Star Soldier on PSP for the first time in months, had a good blast.

Hooked up Daisenpuu on my newly-hacked JAMMA test rig, and it looks like audio has stopped working :(
