Yes, and too many people just don't understand that New Orleans is (well, was) 85% black, so
of course the majority of people seen on Hurricane Katrina footage in central NO is going to be black. What this ignores is all the other people who got stranded behind in the hurricane's wake. People say Bush didn't help the people at the convention center because the crowd was mostly black? What about the
thousands of white people stranded behind in St. Bernard Parish, who didn't get
any government or military support for nearly a week after the hurricane? The people in Mississippi? New Orleans East? Lakeview? People suffered regardless of race, but in reality, the majority of people who were literally
ignored by the government and stranded on rooftops for
days were white. Of course, this doesn't make a good news story, so it gets replaced with a slanted, sensationalist cursory review of the events.
