Why do I have a feeling this thread will eventually get 3 pages long and get locked? On that note...

I love everyone on these boards. I mean, you have BER's sage advice, the technical wizardry of oxtsu, the sarcastic wit of NTSC-J (who I only recently found out was Kaneda all along  )... Rob's baffling love for the Giga Wing series, sethsez always stirring up a storm somewow... and then there's Ramus and co. for the shmupmeet. All the guys in Hawaii are top tier as well. 8)

Actually, I think I wrote a little bit about this here, though that page (heck, the whole site) needs cleaning up...

Main thing that is a plus on this forum: no cliches. They bug the shit out of me.

But the only forum I've found that comes close to this one (in terms of quality posts) is dogsonacid.com. I'm sure there are many more though.

sidenote: The search function is just fine and dandy. What problems are ya'll having with it?

I agree.....It feels a bit cluttered to me, can't explain it but it does. I just hang out in the production forums mostly. The DOA(from my experience mind you) production forums seemed way too technical and dense for someone looking to get into making breakbeats. Maybe I should pay it another visit as i havent been around there since 2004 but damn, its like the talk was all max dsp and sound engineering shit....Arena just seems a bit more accessible for beginners....

Though I haven't been here long and haven't posted much I do love to come here and read all of the interesting threads and check other boards for what I need to find. I haven't seen any bad users that troll or spam from this forum. When I did need help and made a thread I got very descriptive and helpful replies. This isn't my favorite though, as that title goes to the Adult Swim forum.

I've been here a long time, love the forum. It seems a lot of people here are a little older rather than younger, and have good manners. Trading station rules- made a lot of very personal buys and sells there, and a lot of friendships lasting years and years, only on 5 emails or a single transaction.

I've relied fully on the tech section and a lot of the people here for fixing stuff many times.

It seems like there are a lot of immature users on the arena. And its bright yellow too. :(

Producing dnb music is totally alien to me. I enjoy listening to it, and have thought about making some, but it would probably do my head in.

hahah..True...all true...Plus, its not hard to make quality Drum and Bass.....I tend to avoid trying to be all masturbatory with the production techniques and just stick to the script when i'm making tracks...

I lurked for a while and was a poster on the last version of the forum. I don't post all that much here now, but I always come and read up on the topics. There simply is no better forum for the genre.

Actually, the only thing that bugs me about this forum are the stupid cliched opinions that are occasionally expressed, though they're pretty rare and easy to ignore. Otherwise, I like this forum a lot. Its good to read impressions and get opinions on new games that don't get covered anywhere else and high score competition is always nice.

Well, it's been said a few times already but just for the record.

I think this forum is pretty good, because the users are more open minded than in many other communities. You can state that you like / dislike any game without getting a real flame war started. Which I think is pretty seldom on the net. ;)

Changing the play-asia coupon code thread to PM instead of public posting seems to be bringing some unregistered lurkers out of the woodwork :)

Let's hope they start making some posts too.

Rob's baffling love for the Giga Wing series
Is it seriously that hard to believe? I tend to think of Gigawing/Mars Matrix as top tier stuff as well, although I haven't played any of them for any great lengths yet. Tremendously innovative stuff and all around good (minus graphics terrible in all aspects).

Great forum with great members generally, I've learned a lot from a lot of people here. Most of the detractors tend to over-emphasize the tripe topics (e.g. the one that got locked in main recently).

And keep up being better than the other forums. E3 was a bit of a dull stretch, but we're through the woods now.

I have been visiting Shmups and its (several) forums since February 1998. So I have seen a lot of changes and a lot of people come and go. Fortunately, despite the occasional tiff, it's really one of the best and most informative gaming forums on the whole 'net and has greatly enriched my enjoyment of the genre. May it live on 9 more years. And I like 99% of the people here, even the ones whose opinions I don't agree with.

One thing I admire about Shmups is that while we have "personalities," most of them are likeable, informative and aren't the kind that irritate you as badly as on other gaming forums where some folks can mouth off as much as they please.

The key ingredients here @ Shmups are enthusiastic members focused on a great hobby and mods who don't tolerate trolls disguised as local "celebrities" who populate other forums.

Sure we argue a bit now and then but in my experience, a good open discussion is usually had somewhere along the line. Of course this is much easier than in the old days in the years before we had a registered forum (shudders and has a chuckle @ Rommel, Billy and other psychos)

Oh and besides general discussion, I love the score and strategy boards (whose members helped me in my quest to 1CC Batsugun last summer). Such a great variety of info and participation to be had. :)

I learned about this site on another forum that I am a member of. I have been visiting a bunch of game related sites and this was the only one I liked and decided to join. I have been reading other peoples posts and everyone seems like good people. Glad I decided to join.
