I played my fresh new copy of Ibara last night. I knew going in that it wasn't going to look as good as ESPGaluda or DOJ, but damn  it's ugly on my TATE'd CRT television set.

I'm bummed that this is apparently the best looking way to play the game. I'll still play the thing, because I'd like to think I'm a gameplay > graphics kind of guy... I'll just play it later. After I'm done with DOJ and Galuda.

I guess I won't be needing Mushi unless it's competently ported in the future.

IBARA - its better looking than Espgaluda, and "more interesting" looking than DOJ, which has a pretty standard Cave graphics style, IMO, and im talking PS2 versions of course. miss out on mushihimesama if you want to, but its a fine port

What are you playing Ibara on? If there's something I can do about its clarity, I'm all ears.

Umh... no? Certainly not in terms of port-quality. Design-wise I find Ibara to be better then Mushi and DOJ, but not even in the same league as Galuda and Progear.

just a normal 25" european tv, which has rgb as standard, on a jap ps2 through rgb. the game is not crystal-sharp, but this doesnt affect my enjoyment of either the visuals or the game.

By "damn ugly" howmuchkeefe was not referring to the graphical style of the game but to the blur. I concur.

Style-wise, I find mushi to be one of the best looking cave games, but whatever.

Yeah it's a shame the blur is there, but IMO no way does that warrant an immediate avoidance of this fun game. I don't regret having the PS2 port one bit.
