How do you play your shooters on the PS2?
When playing shooters on the PS2, do you:
- like vibration?
- use only the D-pad, analog pad, or use a combination of both?
I love the vibration (it's the best thing ever made for a console controller), and I find myself using the analog pad for anything other than DoDonPachi:DOJ. I use a combination of both when playing it (for some reason, I'm doomed to die quickly in the first two stages if I solely rely on one of the pads o_O)

I prefer the dual shock controller, but I manipulate it with my genitals. I find that they're so much more sensitive than my fingers.
It isn't as awkward as you might think, but then, I've a prehensile unit. It can generate nearly one hundred kg/m of torque, but that's neither here nor there.
...and I always use vibration. Always.
EDIT: In mixed company, I use my hands. People can be so litigious!

I use my Ryu style hori pad for all PS2 shmuppy stuff....plus I really like the DC pad for the Dc games (always the pad though, never the analog). I find that the analog does not work very well for me...somehow feels like there is a lag or something
I need to get a good arcade stick and start using it.....for some reason I do not really like the DC stick (the nice one with green buttons--mental lapse prevents me from remembering the name at the moment), and this is why I have not gotten a better stick.
Does anyone have impressions/review of that Street Fighter Aniiversary stick that works on both Xbox and PS2 put out by Hori (with the cool pic of all the SF characters on it)? I was eyeing it but I wanted to make sure it does not suck (it's like $60 or so)...

A Namco stick that needs new parts. Like most things that receive too much love, it wore out
.
Funny thing is I mostly played shooters with my stick (double entendre intended) right from the start, and now that's all I can use. I'm rubbish with pads, even the SEGA one. Any other genre of game seems OK though. And not just any stick either, I will forever be partial to NEO GEO sticks, the original design. My (almost) exclusive NG stint in the early to mid 90s marked me for life. I don't want to pay shipping on those NG PS2 sticks, but I sniffed out the hardware section and Seimitsu should provide a similar experience? Maybe retrofit some stick with that, yarr.
I'm disgusted at everyones need to specify how they interface with their sticks. Only the guilty are that quick to justify themselves! You will be delighted to know that you can just strap next gen controllers to your rocket and wave it about, they have motion sensors. Not that I've ever thought about it, mind you.

Custom built stick. I hate off-the-shelf cheapy plastic stuff. It's awful.
For those with no woodworking skills, or no place to do woodwork, I recommend Byrdo:

His sticks are second to none.

A Sega Saturn controller which works with my PS2, and yoko. Sometimes I will play TATE but, well... it could be just me, but most of the time I think yoko makes me play better.
HRAP sounds really nice, but I have hypersensitive fingers and find controllers are better. (Not that arcade sticks are bad, but you need to choose your crowd and stick with it, you know? No pun intended, heh.)
