I feel your pain. Do Cave even want for it to be ported? All I can say is that I'm glad that Triangle Service went through the trouble to port the game for us, even if not everybody will like it/buy it.

Oh yea? Well... well... Super Laydock has three--four pre-ordered! Beat that!

("Now now, it's not a competition...")

Anyway, I have no idea of what to think about this whole "increase pre-order" business. Indeed Sundance, it's a waiting game... I of course hope for the best.

I'll pick up a Sega Direct version and a copy from NCS. Since Ikaruga I've picked up two copies of every DC shooter released, the sealed ones sit proudly on my bookshelf (hopefully with Sendo and Radiagy joining the crowd).

Or Raiden Fighters, or Progear etc...I don't pay attention to shooters anymore unless they get home ports, otherwise it's just depressing. *-neo

I'm absolutely planning on getting it.

$60.00 is an average Saturday night bar tab, with the possibility of bringing home an average looking lady.

or-

$60.00 is an average Shmup, and the assurance that I'll be making sweet love to my DC all night.

...no question about it. I choose the latter.

Ew, I bet your Dreamcast joypad is all sticky.

I preordered Trizeal after I read the little plea for help. I was on the fence about the game, and that convinced me to give him the benefit of the doubt. Part of me wants to see this game succeed, make that guy some money, and extend the life of the Dreamcast. But the other part of me wants to see a very limited release with dismal sales, so the game becomes a collector's item.

I'm definetly gonna add Trizeal to my DC library. The screenshots I've seen look pretty good. And so far, I haven't been dissapointed with any of the recent DC shmups I've purchased. Man I'm glad I never got rid of my Dreamcast :D

Just to state the obvious:

Yes, I am gonna get this game (got several copies on preorder).

@ chtimi: to each their own, but I think it sounds defenitely cool and unorthodox! Me like the sample track and I hope the rest is up to that standard! :)

Super Laydock Hi! :D

I agree, I like the music a lot--The first release was very pleasing, the second one got me even more excited, and this third one is pretty! The music might seem like nameless, formless BGM to some (as it can't be everyone's cup of tea), but, I for one can certainly appreciate it--It has a very nice quality about it!

I am so, so excited to play the game, and listen to the music. Mm! (Just so that everybody knows; There are now three sample clips available.)

02. (Eternal) Traveler
03. Infinite Horizon

I agree, icepick. Some nice audio there. I wonder if Eternal Traveler is the credits theme, or just an Arrange version of a stage BGM. It seems to carry too much vocals in it to be a standard stage BGM. Although it would be quite interesting to get j-pop vocals in shmup BGM...

Hmm, wasn't XII Stag Limited supposed to be released by now on the PC? And looks like it's not going to be in DC Trizeal anymore...

Please please please please please please let their be an OST... :/ The bonus CD won't be enough! This music is like Chaos Field's... I could tell I'd love it after hearing a few seconds of it...

p.s. That Chaos Field 25mg remix is the coolest thing ever :P

Hey, I hadn't thought about that... It does seem to be a "staff roll"-type "feeling good" song! I agree with you that it would indeed be interesting as actual stage BGM, although we probably would've heard part of it in one of the demo movies if it was. I'll be thrilled if it is. 8)

(It possibly became a little tiresome after a while, but for the most part, I enjoyed 'rapping' along with Knuckles in Pumpkin Hill. 'I ain't gonna let it get to me, I'm just gonna creep...')
Gamelon wrote:Hmm, wasn't XII Stag Limited supposed to be released by now on the PC? And looks like it's not going to be in DC Trizeal anymore...
Well, I believe that XIIStag Limited was released, but it was intended as a 'thank you' for those whom have pre-ordered Trizeal. It's a short one-level, one-ship, one-credit game, and it's about as cool as Lifting x3. I personally thought that it was not bad at all, but, using the keyboard, my right hand got really tired at a certain point. At least in Psyvariar, even without a roll button, you can keep spinning by simply moving...

(I know, it wouldn't be the same thing!)

Oh, and... There seems to be a lot of confusion about this, but it's my understanding that the XIIStag ship will be available in the DC version (as it was in the arcade version). Trizeal DC will also include a bonus stage which was not in the arcade version.
umi wrote:p.s. That Chaos Field 25mg remix is the coolest thing ever :P
It so totally is! I'm so glad that the CD was more available than the first one, which I've still never heard (and might not, it seems)...

The "Bonus Tracks" CD sort of is the OST though, isn't it? And besides, they'll have a sound test! I'll be making my own game soundtrack the good old-fashioned way, to go along with the good old-fashioned game... :D

(But, maybe if they remain intact as a company, they'll be able to spring for such expenses as stand-alone soundtracks.)

Damn... there went my hype for the game. I'll still buy it simply because... its on the DC... but I'll be damned if that doesn't look like one mediocre generic ass shmup.

Oh, come now... You know that it looks fun! Admit it! 8) :D

(Admittedly, I thought that it looked a bit lackluster, the first couple of times that I watched the movies. After some time, and watching them a couple more times though, little details started to seep into my conscious/subconscious, and now, I am looking forward to playing the game as much as ever.

Yes, I might be unversed in the current world of shmups, and I might be delirious even now... But, I believe that this game has something! There's every bit as much personality here as in others, as far as I'm concerned. It might not be as unbelievably outstanding as today's current shmups, but it certainly looks fun, adventurous and challenging, does it not?)

Thunder Force; I now think that you might be right on both counts, actually! If you watch the "stageall" video, and listen from about 42-43 seconds in, you can hear an instrumental version of the chorus of "Eternal Traveler" come in at around 49 seconds. It could be both an arrange version and a credits theme, but as before (and always), of course, we'll find out in under three weeks...

PS- After playing XIIStag Limited, I now see how flamtastic that one situation in the XIIZeal is (with the boss at the end) -- The XIIStag ship is using the bomb, and is inside the boss, using the side blast things, and the afterburner, and the rapid forward shot! You can see the light flares from all of them, from outside the boss... it's nuts! Again, call me naive, please. I am. I'm also investing in some new controllers and perhaps a joystick.

That's actually what the site says, yeah. But is it just me or did they use to say XII Stag Limited would be included as well?

Anyway, can somebody translate what the XII Stag Limited section in the PC section says? Is it really just the demo or is there more to it?

It looks like XIISTAG Limited was that one Stage 4 demo, as sort of a "thank you" for the preorders...dunno.

Both Trizeal Lifting and the XIISTAG Limited stage had Internet ranking for a month (which has now ended)...call me crazy but those games were a great idea...give the shooting fans a little something to play (or in Trizeal's case, give the potential buyers a little taste of the game's mechanics), and throw in a ranking just for incentive. I really hope Triangle Service does more of these "demos" in the future, which whatever upcoming projects arise...my purchase of Trizeal was mosty influenced by the Lifting game itself, so there ya go...

I'm gonna write them an e-mail inquiring more about XIISTAG Limited, whether or not it'll be turned into an actual full game.

Lame.
Like the majority of gamers in the world (and possibly the majority even on the shmups board), I don't own a Dreamcast.
I think that almost everybody on this board owns a DC.It's just sooo cheap these days it would be stupid to pass on on all it's pretty games

When will this myth die? Just because DCs are cheap and readily available in the US doesn't mean they're that everywhere. Over here it's quite hard to find one (even when the console was alive many shops didn't carry it) and when you do it's being sold with 20+ games you don't want but have to pay for anyway.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Now that the U.S. dollar is so low compared to the Euro, it might be worth considering importing a DC from the US off Ebay. Though I guess there is the compatibility issue (as far as power and PAL), and addressing these issues may start to get rather expensive, I'm not sure.

No...first of all it's $60 and I'm trying to put off video game purchases, as I'm working on my music collection. I'm already preordering Beatmania IIDX 9th Style which is $62.99 on YesAsia.

Second, I have not heard one very positive comment about this game, especially since it's not very manic, though then again I bought DDP:DOJ and it bored me (maybe because I'm in yoko mode and I don't feel like tateing my TV at the risk of damaging it in several ways?).

OMG no! What is this "e-bay" you speak of? I must start a new thread on it and ask what it is.

Now, I don't really need a DC. Astonishing, eh? While it's cheap for some and that's reason enough for them to get one, importing one makes it instantly less cheap for me and rather defeats the purpose. Considering there's really only one shmup on the system I'm interested in (that being Border Down) it's just not worth it. I still got plenty of shmups on PS2 and PCE Duo-R to play. Starting a DC collection, cheap as it may be compared to starting a PS2 collection, for example, still takes money. I'd rather spend that money for something else. Don't need it. Simple as that.

Now, I know that lots of people simply aren't interested in Trizeal at all, and thus never even entered this thread... But, this looks like a pretty decent turnout to me--I'm actually pleasantly surprised be the amount!

Oh, and... Appended DC version specification:

http://www.triangleservice.co.jp/html/t ... index.html

Nothing too big; They present the video modes ('90% reduction' pillarboxed, standard pillarboxed, vertical/arcade and vertical/arcade rotate), and mention that there will be rapid fire button assignment (yay! save my buttons!) for the regular ship and the side-firing of the XIIStag ship (a pleasant addition, but may present a score table dilemma).

I'll personally be using the "vertical rotate" mode for sure. 8)
