Chinese/Ali Express CMVS Unit

Post by Josh128 »

Saw this on Ebay this morning, have never seen it before. Very cool looking IMO, has YUV, composite, S-Video and RGBS out, but pricey. Anyone here have one?

more infos here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=62166&hilit=cmvs

I've got the CMVS version without the additional Jamma extension. Works very well. Units back then had off spec RGB levels. Component was fine. With a little modding (RGB levels, restored stereo, battery) those are nicely working units.

Did you get it when you couldnt get a JNX unit? What was the price for the non-Jamma version?

wasn't related to my experience with JNX. I paid $180 plus shipping for mine (transparent unit with saturn controller ports).

Man thats not bad. They're quite proud of them now it seems. They need to cut the price in half.

Saw it cheaper on taobao, but I think taobao won't tell you shipping costs until you've already ordered and they've received it at their warehouse.

TimeHarvest makes the machines, so I doubt they will have a secret channel where they sell their product at a significant discount.

If there's a cheaper unit somewhere, I would expect to get a used machine or a clone.

Like Fudoh, mine was reasonably priced. Mine was a slightly later unit with improvements: stereo audio and better RGB levels.

Excited that I saw a cheaper model (around $220 which I think is fair) without supergun support on their site. Then I saw $82 shipping......

Don't mind the base price raise, MVS boards are only getting rarer and it looks like a great kit now that the issues are resolved. Just shocked it would take that much to get it to me from China, when usually it's, well, free.

Bob, you have a link to that? The only Tao Bao site I can find is in Chinese and G Translate does not appear to like it.

Yeah they are obviously attempting to give the appearance of better pricing of the product while profiting off of the shipping. Lame.

Hopefully my MV-1C board coming in from China will be functional and good for the upcoming kit.

Taobao is indeed Chinese only. Here's the link on their website:

Man that box is really fucking slick. All those outputs and SNK logos! It looks far superior to any other CMVS Ive seen, very professional. I love the red version.

Fudoh or Orange, do you know if the newer units have proper RGB levels and stereo audio? Any other problems with them, or the original units?

I'll read through the original thread, but any info on what chips are used for the RGB/component circuits as well?

As far as I can tell, my RGB levels are fine, but I don't own the equipment to properly test. So, that's not something we know for sure.

Mine is wired for stereo as well.

I think they fixed those first two complaints quickly.

I use the component out to be safe. I am in the United States, so RGB really doesn't matter much to me. The OSSC accepts component just fine for the Neo Geo.

I have the red case and no desire to take it apart, so I won't be photographing the board on the Neo Geo.

I have a clear case Timeharvest CBOX Supergun. Here's a gallery of the chips they used on it. I bet the Neo Geo console and their Supergun share the same components.

ROHM BA6592F for component and maybe S-Video
TI 7314 for CVBS and maybe S-Video
L7805CV voltage regulator

Not sure what the RGB circuit looks like, but seems like solid choices to me.
