Galaga 88- 97,420 (MAME) Stage 3-8 Bloodreign

I wanted to try and better my score, I actually did a little better on the MAME version than on the PCE version. I'm sure someone is still playing these Galaga games.

Also sorry to bump the thread, but while at work, I had Galaga on the mind all night.

Galaga

Stanski-600280-stage 61-PCB (edited stage after friend reminded me of correct stage)

This is far from my best score, I only got perfects in like 6 of the challenging stages, but I never kept track of my scores before. I think I rolled the score over one time, though I might be wrong if it doesn't roll over at 1,000,000 like i remember.

Had some free time at work today and got to put a quarter in the galaga machine:

Galaga

Stanski-884,380-stage 70-pcb

Much better challenging stages. And I played on the 2nd player side in case i rolled it over, didn't get quite that far.

Wow if you're achieving that without the "no shoot glitch", you're an amazing Galaga player! :) Years of practice?

heh, the record for galaga at twin galaxies without the no shoot glitch is 16,000,000. I'm not that good :-P.

Galaga

Stanski-999,990-stage 82-PCB

Unfortunately, the arcade cabinet I play on has shitty buttons (sticky) for player 2. i got to 999,090 and decided to try and max out the 1 player side instead of looping the score (had only one double fighter left anyhow). I think I'm done playing galaga for a while, each run just takes way too long now.

Galaga 88

RFP - 106 660 - 2-9 (MAME)

Galaga

RFP - 99 790 - 14 - PCB
Extends were 30K, then 100K and every other 100K. I can't really change them either since it's at my local arcade.
EDIT: Son of a bitch, if that machine had the normal extends... arhh!

Galaga

RFP - 159 640 - 21 (MAME)

Had a really terrible run in the arcade where I should have reached the 100k extend/benchmark but because I blew the first 2 10k CS bonuses I stalled at 99 940. So when I got home I was determined to crack 100k, and so I have, with normal extends no less. I'm pretty sure it was 21 where I died...

PC Engine version of Galaga '88 ('90) is definitely easy compared to the PCB. Back in the day it was a stellar port but it isn't arcade accurate.

Does anyone know if the MAME driver for Arrangement '95 is still screwed?

The arcade Galaga '88 on the Namco 50th Anniversary disc has a serious input lag issue, so consider yourself handicapped if playing it. I haven't played the version on Namco Virtual Arcade (Xbox 360) yet, so I don't know if it has the same issue.

Arrangement '05 also appears on Namco Virtual Arcade (currently $15 at Gamestop, hell of a deal for 29 games including several classic shmups), it is no longer PSP exclusive. It's also on the iPhone but playing it with a touch screen has got to suck.

Gaplus

Ed Oscuro - 68,000 - Parsec 7 - MAME

Not only was I due for another bonus round (I think), but I was 2,000 points away from the next extend. Ah well.

Outstanding score Skyline.

Here's a modest improvement for myself in 88. I ended on the large blue invader, whom I suspect is the boss. I can improve this for sure.

NES version allowed for Galaga? Because I think it's as accurate as the arcade.

I attempted this game probably around five times and I finally got through. I beat it twice. The second time was an attempt to get an higher score then before but that didn't turn up so well.

Galaga Arrangement '05

Just bought Namco Museum Battle Collection UMD to try this game out. I might improve this score sometime.

Better score below.

Galaga Arrangement '05
Enigma- 528,900 - 6-5- 360(Namco Museum Virtual Arcade)

Got to the last boss with 4 spare lives in stock and completely screwed it up.

Also, what's the default difficulty for Galaga '88? This compilation defaults it to Easy, but not sure if that's what it should be.
