Galaga - 315,020 - 34? - PS1 (Namco Museum Vol 1)

I'm not actually sure what level I reached (this is a years old record), but 34 is listed in the record book as my highest stage reached.

Not a new high, but if you'd prefer a more exact record:

Not unless someone has evidence that it plays identical to the arcade.

I'll tell you what, the PCE version of Galaga 88 is far easier than the actual arcade version. I thought they were the same until I got the board and it kicks my ass a lot harder.

That's a shame. If I were to play around and come up with a good score, would you start a board for it?

We're focusing on the original arcade games here, or faithful home emulations/versions of them. But if there is a large interest from other members in the NES version, a separate scoreboard for it might be added. I don't want to create a board if only one person is going to be posting scores on it.

Also, the recent GBA Namco 50th Anniversary port of Galaga is sadly flawed and not accepted for this scoring competiton. (The original, older GBA Namco Museum version should be ok - I think.)

Hope I don't need a screenshot, because I have no camera to take of my TV screen.

Galaga- 99,890 level 16 (Namco Museum 50th Anniversary PS 2) I actually got lucky at 4 a.m. tired from work, I tried to crack 100,000 but on my last life I got trapped in a corner and a Galaga crashed into me.

Also, the recent GBA Namco 50th Anniversary port of Galaga is sadly flawed

What problems did the newer GBA version have I played it once seemed easier than normal.

The conversion is a total disaster (blame goes to Digital Eclipse, lately also responsible for the abysmal port of Stun Runner on Xbox Midway Arcade Treasures 3). Speed is messed up (runs slower), graphics are wrong/corrupt blatantly when your bullets hit certain bugs (happens in almost every game), collision detection is broken if certain sequence of events occur (I've been hit by an enemy bullet all the way across the other side of the screen), and aspect ratio is wrong in tate. I probably would have discovered more flaws but I stopped playing the cart in disgust.
