Mixed Drinks!

Post by MOSQUITO FIGHTER »

Recently tried one of these and it was fantastic. Tasted just like a oatmeal cookie.

Oatmeal Cookie

- 1 part Bailey's Irish Cream
- 1 part Butterscotch Schnapps
- 1 part Goldschlager

Shake ingredients with crushed ice and strain into a shot glass.

You can also add Hot Damm for a cinnamon flavor or Jagermeister for a raisen flavor.

Whats your mixed drink of choice?

Rock Chick:

Take one single measure (25ml) shot glass (any shape, although conical with wide tops work best). Fill half the shot glass with creme de'menthe, then using a back of a teaspoon, layer half a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream on top of the creme de'menthe.

Make several, then drink one after another in one gulp. Also good as a Double Header (same method and ingredients, but double the measures in a 50ml shotglass). Delicious.

Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri - don´t know the recipe, just drink it at bars.

White Russion - 1/3 Kahlua, 1/3 Vodka, 1/3 milk. Very dangerous because it doesn´t taste like alcohol at all, but has plenty in it.

You aren't kidding about that one. If I have one White Russian, I'll be feeling it within the next 5 minutes.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Dead Nazi:

3 parts Rumple Minze
1 part Jagermeister

More of a mixed shot than a mixed drink, but it's good anyway. Like drinkin' toothpaste!

Dead Nazi is the best name for a drink I've ever heard.

I drink real ale almost exclusively, so no recipes from me. Sorry!

Malibu mixed with cherry coke tastes surprisingly nice, it was an accident the first time.

Oh, another vote for the white russian: my favourite drink ever. Hard to get in the UK as most bars don't carry either Kahlua or cream (and we don't even have half-and-half over here), so I mainly only get to drink them when I'm in the States, or at home.

When I go out I tend to stick to Jack Daniels and Coke, or Southern Comfort, lemonade and lime - tastes like lollipops.

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

Wow, I used to drink all this but then just started sticking with a few hard ass ones.

The simplest and most potent drink around (can't think of the name)--
your favorite bourbon + southern comfort. Yeah, double whiskey basically, but the two blur each other to the point that it is fairly drinkable. Yeah, this is for all of you out there that hate (your) liver.

Ascott (one of my favorites)--slightly more complicated: 1 gin + 1/2 vermouth + maybe a capful on anesett. the vermouth gives it that nice rich woody taste that I like, and as you can imagine, this one is a real ass kicker.

Beer buster (for the beer lovers). NOT your favorite beer (what's the point?) + a shot of vodka + a dash of tobasco sauce. Great with IPAs and wheat ales. I can't imagine it would save a pissweiser, but someone has to find out.

Mostly just sticking with beer now, too much booze lately.

Heh, been there, done that ^_-

I've worked as a mixologist for a time, and have a few personal creations in the memory banks, as well as a few classics. There was also a website and mailing list for mixologists which would e-mail you every week with the five best new creations, as well as a favourite classic. I'm sure if you dig around a search engine you can find it.

As for personal creations, since the initial post was of a biscuit theme, here's another personal creation, the Mint Choc-Chip Cookie:

Take one mixing glass (anything over half a pint and quite wide is good here). Drop in one shot of creme de'menthe, one shot of Corky's white chocolate vodka, and one shot of white creme de'cacao (or two if you don't have any Corky's handy). Add a liberal pinch of chocolate flakes. Stir gently until all ingredients are blended together, then pour into a short tumbler with a few cubes of ice. Garnish with a mini Flake, a chocolate stick, or a vanila stem, depending on your taste ^_-

And if you have a hang-over, get the Hair of the Bloody Dog:

In a cocktail shaker almost ful with ice, tip in two baby bottles of tomato juice, two shots of vodka, 2 to 3 teaspoons of Worcestershire Sauce, 2 teaspoons of Tobasco sauce, 2 to 3 twists of fresh ground black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Shake like a bastard until the shaker goes very cold, then strain out into a tall glass with ice. Garnish with a bit of mint, and enjoy with an ice pack on your forehead ^_-

And finally, the Black Mexican ('ey grrrringo!):

In a shaker almost full with ice, drop in a shot of Kahlua and two shots of clear tequila. Shake liberally, then strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Top up with Cola.

I just don´t get what the point is. Either you like bourbon, then you don´t have to make it "drinkable", or you don´t, then you might just as well stick with Southern Comfort pure or any other softer drink.
I wouldn´t even want ice with my Jack Daniels.

But Jack Daniels is not a Bourbon - I know I am being picky :)

However, I do agree with you that whiskey on it's own is the way to go.

Cheers

It is one of those things you have to try I think. At first it seems absolutely pointless since soco is supposedly just a sweetened bourbon (rather uncertain what it is, not really much of a fan of it...) I guess I am not really into the drinks that taste like candy, but sometimes don't want to drink straight liquor.

As far as jack daniels not being a bourbon, woah...I am not sure what you're getting at there. There are several kinds of whiskeys, but I thought all kentucky whiskeys were bourbons. Again, I'm at a loss here since I always felt for the same money, you can get a much better bourbon than Jack Daniels.

ok, I´ll give it a try when I´m in a bar next time. Not going to buy a bottle of Southern Comfort just to try it :)

for example? Around here, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam and a few no-name blends are pretty much the only bourbon (whatever) you can buy, everything else is Scotch or Irish.

I never drink anything but beer or straight tequila. But last night when two pretty ladies wanted to take me out for $3 mojitos, I was lightning quick on the uptake. Drank I dunno how many and got quite drunk, yet somehow woke up feeling fine. I'd do it again too.

Makers mark is very smooth (some say too smooth and will accuse you of being fruity...do you dare walk the line?)
I am really enjoying a newer one called 'Bullet' which has a nice flavor to it, but is pretty sharp. If you have a good liquor store and can't find at least a dozen different brands of bourbon, then you need to find a new liquor store. Had one called 'fighting cock' I'd never seen before that was damn good! Then of course there's old crow, but that's not worth cleaning your car engine with.

What about Ryes though? I think I might take a Rye to a bourbon, but I don't see many good Ryes out there.
