Dangun Feveron

Post by Scott74 »

Can anyone please explain the plot of this game to me.
Is there one?
What's with the disco theme?

The disco theme is there because it's cool.

GaijinPunch has translated an article regarding the game, it's worth checking out if you like the game:

Definitely one of the quirkiest shmups I've ever played, the games got class, and a sense of humor.

The only thing I don't like about Dangun is the ship design (the one you fly), very uninspired. But like I care. I can't get enough of collecting disco dancers bouncing around in space!

One of the more painfully addictive shooters out there, without a doubt.

If you are playing MAME, no it's not supposed to be quite that fast.

The problem is a lack of wait state emulation.

This is Cave's first Parody shooter. Like Parodius is to Gradius, so is Dangun Feveron to normal Cave games.

This game is damned addictive. I discovered it about a year ago or so and have played it fairly regularly, but it still punishes me.

Collecting the little dancers is a great addition, and adds a whole new feeling of urgency to each level.

I think this is a really underrated title, and deserves some serious attention from any self-confessed Cave fan.

I take it the first stage is the easy one? I one-lifed the boss (first try), and then got whipped by the second, hah! Very fun but I can barely even see the enemy designs due to all the little men you have to pick up

Strange, Galmedes was just whipping me and this seemed easier at first...

Yes, stage 1 is a walkthrough. It's designed to get your hopes up so that they may be crushed later. :)

Galmedes ended up being tougher, all the same. Great title, gotta practice on it!

Whenever my friends start asking me why all shooters are the same, this (and Guwange) are invariably the two games I show them first. Most people comment on the sweet soundtrack first and foremost, and a lot of times, they stop shooting on Stage 2 for a split-second or two to hear the tunes without all the SFX noise. Same thing with Guwange and Espgaluda's Stage 2 tunes. So damn good...

Digging this topic back from the grave: Ah! I didn't know about the wait-state issues with MAME. I mean, I know this game is supposed to be fast -- but that fast? I find myself always choosing the lowest speed on the MAME version. Now, I really want the PCB version, as despite the speed I love this game to bits! :D

WOW. Until you said that, I thought those were tomatoes I was picking up. Yes, tomatoes. There was just too much going on for me to squint at what exactly I was chasing after. And being colorblind doesn't help either.

Q: This is the world's first game with a reset command as a hidden feature. What do you think of that based on effects it might've had on high score players and in terms of profits?
-There are people that require a reset command, so we put it there. (Crusty)
How do you go about this, does anyone know?

I just played through it again after reading this thread. Only five levels? Pff!

It is really fun though. Kinda cheered me up a little.

Do you mean the "Easy" setting, or something else?

I mean the lowest speed of fighter movement when the time comes to select fighter, secondary shot type and speed. :)
