Skin color looks straight out of Mountain of Faith. At least the frame has sane colors this time. I like the "disco lights" screenshot, though I guess the game isn't always going to be like that.

How will this game be darker than the other Touhou games, anyway? Because it takes place in Hell? Didn't Subterranean Animism also take place in Hell?

So, can anyone give a basic rundown of the mechanics?

Well, I tried it and its standard 2hu flair, just dodge, shoot and collect. More importantly, collect the faces (Goast, lol.) and other side pickups on the screen, collect 5 of them and your character will temporarily power up. Once its done, you'll have 2 faces out of your character to pick up. Demo ends at 3 stages.

So this got released. Game's kinda wild, it seems a bit different from previous games. Stage 4 does get quite the difficulty spike (stage 4 itself is the hardest stage in the game) while Extra seems pretty tame.

You can absolutely just pick Otter and use Otter hypers and bombs and mash through the whole game like that. You are allowed to do this. I guess that's why ZUN split the animal types this time. Unfortunately there is no STRONG STYLE that forgoes bombs or something like that, that'd be hype as fuck.

In case you've missed, most older Touhous are now on Dlsite, and this one's "coming soon." Probably sooner than Steam. EDIT: Nah, early September

Oh, neat! "Most" might be a bit of a stretch though, the catalog goes back to Ten Desires (Touhou 13), which I think is the same as the Steam selection (and Touhou 12.5 and 12.8 aren't up there... yet?).
