Not that I care that much. But hey, I love the "pop" sound of developers yanking their heads out of Sony's worthless ass.

What's the goddamn point of this thread?

If you count the 360 as 'current gen' then surely it can be the only system of focus as it's the only one of the 'current gen' systems that's actually out?SuperGrafx wrote:Good news to me. The 360 is my "current gen" system of focus anyway, so news like this is always welcome for me.
Well I have no plans to buy the upcoming PS3 or Revolution anytime soon. I'm quite content with what the 360 brings to the table as well as the games that are slated to come out for it. News like this just makes my decision that much easier to take.judesalmon wrote:If you count the 360 as 'current gen' then surely it can be the only system of focus as it's the only one of the 'current gen' systems that's actually out?SuperGrafx wrote:Good news to me. See? As an act of good faith I'm offering a hug. On Specineff's head no less. Who is standing on top of my Navi Saturn. But regardless.
Are you sure company prejudices are necessarily a bad thing? Isn't that how demand and democratic market forces are supposed to work? Consumers supporting companies whose business practices they agree with, and conversely boycotting companies who they find disagreeable?icycalm wrote:company prejudices are things that we should have grown out of by now.
Being prejudiced against a console maker means that you won't buy its hardware even if there are tons of good games for it. Conversely, prejudice against a software publisher means that you won't buy any of their games, even if they have a few great ones.Thunder Force wrote:Are you sure company prejudices are necessarily a bad thing? I'd more or less agree. Prejudiced is the key word here. Around 200 games come out each year and I don't rent all of them or even know of the existence of all of them, all based on the fact that they'll probably suck. I doubt anyone else is any different in this respect - we have to be, as much as I wish I had the time and resources to give everything a fair chance. But I don't think boycotting specific consoles or great games does anyone much good.icycalm wrote:Being prejudiced against a console maker means that you won't buy its hardware even if there are tons of good games for it. Prejudice of any kind is stupid, and obstructs progress. 'Progress' in this context means that you will lose out on great Xbox games because you hate Microsoft, for example (and how ridiculous is it when people manage to actually love or hate faceless multinationals?) We are all human of course, so we could probably never be 100% free of prejudice, but we can at least be aware that it is something which holds us back, and fight against it whenever we see it in ourselves. The way to fight it is to be more open-minded.
Generally speaking, you will find that intelligent people are open-minded and stupid people are prejudiced. So we should all aspire to the first. I think.

As far as I know, the only time I even go into Sony rants is when someone's pussy starts hurting over some snide comment I make towards the company. As for the Panzer Dragoon thing, once again, I'm not supporting shit I don't agree with. Last time I checked, I had the fucking right to do that. The flipside of the coin, however, is when it comes to persuading other people to share such a prejudice, or when complaining about drawbacks your prejudice inflicts upon yourself (not being "able" to complete his Panzer Dragoon collection, for example), because that´s when you appear really stupid.
