Thank you for the interest in helping guys.
I'll try to recount everything I've tested/tried in this effort. There's probably more things I've done...
On VP30 - every conceivable setting, resolution, frequency locked/unlock, aspect ratio in/out, input output settings (video vs. pc) etc etc, that could possibly have any effect
-Including outputs of 1080p, 720p, 1080i, 480p, 540p, 1366 x 768, 1024 x 768......all of them
-Including all sync types - +/-, +/+, bisync....
Different HDMI cables
VP30 through a HDMI splitter (out to camlink and AVermedia capture card simultaneously), and VP30 direct to camlink
Camlink including various settings through Game Capture HD (native software), and through OBS and Video Pad Editor
-Including GCHD "hidden" advanced settings menu - allow deinterlace on and off, bulk and isochronous mode, firmware updated to latest (v20)
Sources - OSSC (HDMI), Xbox 360 (HDMI), Xbox Original (YPbPr), PS2 (YPbPr), Wii (YPbPr), 3DO (S-video), NES (composite), likely others
The only thing that has worked to make the two compatible is using a cheap chinese scaler between the two (like this:
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/ ... 7ae5eDhMP0), VP30 HDMI in -> chines scaler HDMI out. I can output 720p -> cheap chinese scaler @ 720p -> camlink, no problem. I can upscale or downscale through the chinese scaler also, no problem. Frankly, I'm not opposed to using this as my solution, but it's mostly just a curiosity at this point, wondering if anyone else has been successful with this particular coupling of tech, or have also met with failure.
