For clarification you are talking about the one from 2011 right?GaijinPunch wrote:The Thing + Bonus material
I have had the latest The Thing rescan on BluRay for a while, and didn't get around to watching it until recently. As I needed something on but couldn't pay 100% attention to, I ran through some of the bonus material. Pretty cool hearing the casts stories all these years later. The interview with Carpenter was charming as well. I did watch bits & pieces of the TV broadcast versions. Jesus Christ Almighty what a turd.
Fuck no. Never seen it.Steamflogger Boss wrote: For clarification you are talking about the one from 2011 right?

That's a bit disappointing. Batman should newer look awful.null1024 wrote: Every single time Bruce said or did something, it looked and felt a bit awful, he's really just a lame guy here.
I liked the One Ugly Beast pic. Yippie kai yay, you filthy animal!BIL wrote:I'd say I'm aghast, but at this point I'd expect nothing less. :/ Got no more outraged loads to bust for our criminally mismanaged 80s icons. Predator, Aliens, Terminator, Robocop, all regularly deluging the bed in torrents of corn-ridden shit. Time to pull the plug, close the lid, put both barrels through the back of the head, etc etc.
I suggest checking out KLON's Famicom Predator. Pardon the silly "Big Mode," it's an artfully mean little Treachery Platformer with some absolutely cracking quasi-Engrish (ta kitten!). The NES one might suffice but had some dumb things done to its level order.

The Predator FC cutscenes also remind me of Rambo's NES ending that mistranslates the line from the end of Rambo: First Blood Part II.BIL wrote:YesBrianC wrote:I liked the One Ugly Beast pic. Yippie kai yay, you filthy animal!![]()
Yeah, B-Movie for sure.BIL wrote:The Last Days on Mars (2013)

Charisma (1999)
I think Tokyo Sonata is a good movie. I remember saying I liked it after having seen it and getting roasted slightly for it. Charisma I started watching several times too late at night and fell asleep. The others sound interesting though.iconoclast wrote:Highlights from this year
Hanging Garden (2005)
Wonderful World End (2015)
Fuku-chan of FukuFuku Flats (2014)
Bright Future (2002)
The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God in a Coin Locker (2007)
Oh Brother, Oh Sister! (2014)
Tokyo Sonata (2008)
Kids Return (1996)
Kaza-hana (2000)
Charisma (1999)
They're all 8/10ish though. I want to see something really great. Might have to go with some of the classics I've been putting off.
Been looking for some good J-movies. Will check these out. Last one I tried was recommended by a Japanese friend. It was quirky, but the cliche's (and star whom I'm not a fan of) quickly put me to sleep.iconoclast wrote:Highlights from this year

I like all of those movies, but if there's any genre in particular you're looking for I could probably recommend some better stuff (besides romance, I don't watch much of that).GaijinPunch wrote:Been looking for some good J-movies. Bright Future and Tokyo Sonata are Kiyoshi Kurosawa's best movies imo. Maybe Pulse too, but I need to rewatch that. I'd put Charisma and most of his other movies just a notch below them. To me he's a consistently good, sometimes great, but never amazing director. Even his TV series (Penance) was pretty good.lilmanjs wrote: I think Tokyo Sonata is a good movie.
