I don't have a Switch, but I can certainly recommend this game to anybody who likes anything at all about Psikyo games!

Re: Dragon Blaze (Switch)
Can anybody report how it performs? I assume similar to the previous 2D Psikyo releases?

I really don't have a clue what I'm doing in this game but I'm having a blast. I can't figure out the Magic shots at all. I'd also like to know how to get the gold coins to appear since I only saw them once by accident.

Re: Dragon Blaze (Switch)
When you press the C button to detach the dragon from its rider, the dragon dashes forward which deals damage like a sort of melee attack (often called "dragon-shot"). Kill enemies with that melee attack to spawn gold coins. Incidentally, that's also how you trigger the technical bonuses on the bosses (dragon-shot when the boss reveals its gem during the second phase).steveovig wrote:I really don't have a clue what I'm doing in this game but I'm having a blast. Each character has two different magic shots, one for when the dragon and rider are together and one for when they're separate. You use it by holding down the shot button, and it lasts as long as you hold it or until you run out of charge.

Sorry, first time seeing these Psikyo ports for Switch (I don't own one), but am I the only one thinking this is rather bare bones compared to the M2 PCB ports?CRP wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... _ZaRRUHudY

What's wrong with the audio, saturated and skipping during explosions, also it's hard to be sure with the video but aren't there frame drops too?CRP wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... _ZaRRUHudY

If that's how it really is then it sucks...afaik Psikyo SH2 runs [email protected], is it such a huge pain for a dev to port that cleanly even they plan to sell cheap?
Yet they've bothered with making menus and shit. *facepalm*

Re: Dragon Blaze (Switch)
I love how punchy the shooting is in this. And the themeing is really awesome, especially the land of the dead. The way the magic works kind of annoys me--I just wanna hold fire without the magic going off, but switching between normal and auto is too much with psikyo difficulty. I think I'll be playing Child and Monkey for a while -___- But the scoring system is pretty nice, simple but sensible, and reminds me a little bit of point-blanking in Futari BL Original sometimes, but with a little more leeway. Granted, I dunno if there's any more nuance to the scoring, other than I guess dragon-shotting certain areas to get that medal totem to appear? But it's nice to be playing a fantasy shooter, and one with such a good balance of everything really, but especially the enemy shots. Psikyo is fun.

Port issues aside; sure it's great! though dragon-smashing the hell out of everything reminds a bit of a whack-a-mole sim rather than a shmup.

That might have been a result of the footage capture - this one looks and sounds fine:Xyga wrote:What's wrong with the audio, saturated and skipping during explosions, also it's hard to be sure with the video but aren't there frame drops too?CRP wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... _ZaRRUHudY

Re: Dragon Blaze (Switch)
Yes that one's fine (in 720p60) thanks FRO.
Incredible how misleading a bad capture can be! the guy who made it should be slapped.
Wached a bit and well there's nothing to complain about for the price.

Re: Dragon Blaze (Switch)
Pretty much just dragon-shot as many enemies as you can (and collect the coins it spawns, of course), get the coinheads as you mentioned (they're triggered by dragon-shotting a specific enemy on each stage), and get the tech bonuses on the bosses. There's also a bit of milking you can do on the bosses and midbosses, but nothing very long (even milking everything that's profitable, a 2-ALL comes out to under half an hour). There's a surprising amount of depth in routing to get as many dragon-shots in as you can.Special World wrote:Granted, I dunno if there's any more nuance to the scoring, other than I guess dragon-shotting certain areas to get that medal totem to appear?
Play Ian if you don't like switching to magic shot, his magic drains the energy bar so quickly you'll rarely be using it.

Still no sign of this game on the UK eshop. Always wanted to play DB and it will be my first download for switch.
