No slowdown on SNES Gradius 3?

Post by Logan Jones »

Is there a way to play the SNES version of Gradius III without any slowdown? I like that version, but I would sure enjoy it more if it had reduced or absent slowdown.

Not sure on the details of it, but looks like it's just an option in RetroArch?

Super NT has a setting to increase max number of sprites as well. Apparently this helps G3 according to recent reviews.

Brekaing the sprite limit just prevents invisible/flickering sprites. Slowdown is entirely caused by CPU limitations, so I'm guessing emulators add extra fake cycles at the end of a frame to simulate "overclocking" without messing with scanline timing.
