- Enemies shot down with options are worth 2X.
- There is no powering up, only switching shot/option types. If you pick up an icon of the same type as the weapon in use, you receive 5,000 points.
- 6 bombs may be held at a time. Each additional bomb icon picked up will give 10,000 points.
- End-of-stage bonus:
- Shot down percent * [300-(player ships remaining*100) with a minimum value of 100 if there are more than 2 ships remaining] [*2 if Shot Down percent is 100]
- boss time remaining in seconds, rounded down, * 1,000
- bomb stock * 10,000
Hmm, sounds almost like a classic Fire Shark / Twin Cobra type scoring system. Not sure how I feel about playing w/1 life only for score, but I guess that's G. Rev for ya.

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.

Damn, wish I would have ordered a regular edition too, those are both quality covers. I do like the LE, Very few shooters have snow on their covers, would've looked great in a clear DVD case like Cosmic Smash.
Those are big words. NCS is pretty professional and wouldn't put something like that on their site if they didn't think it was viable. *-neoKiken wrote:From NCSX (March 21st, 2006):
With Under Defeat taken care of, we focus on our attention on getting Senko no Ronde for the Dreamcast. We figure as long as 3500-5000 DC preorders are assured, G.Rev may consider a Dreamcast port since those numbers will probably match how many Senko no Ronde will eventually sell on the Japanese Xbox 360.
Thanks as always incognoscente. Sounds like a nice mix of G. Darius and Raiden DX. Should be very playable.incognoscente wrote:Neon wrote:I've already forgot, can someone summarize the scoring system again? 5 stages, 2 loops.
Play continues into the second loop if the player:
Thanks GRev and CIT/Seven Force for the clarification on second loop code.
Play continues into the second loop if the player:
- does not continue
- plays solo (no 2p assist)
- the average contribution (~shot down) ratio for stages 1-1 to 1-5 is 95% or more.
Thanks GRev and CIT/Seven Force for the clarification on second loop code.

both covers are nice
but anything thing that makes the LE more appealing, IMO, is the fact that it doesn't look like the regular version
I mean, it seems like an overwhelming number of shmups have used the whole dilapidated city under siege look

Dang, can't someone jsut give me like a nutshell synopsis so I can make a descision? Even just "Zero-gunner 2 -like" or not will suffice. thx
I ordered the regular edition today. I was pleased enough with the BD limited edition, but honestly, I never listen to the soundtrack for it. I figure I can pick up the UD soundtrack separately if I like it enough. Hope the game kicks ass tho! with the PA coupons, it was under $59 shipped for the reg. ed. Yay!
Just to clarify, the CD included with the LE version of the game does not contain the same tracks as the OST CD.maxlords wrote:I was pleased enough with the BD limited edition, but honestly, I never listen to the soundtrack for it. It's all good. I find that I'm generally more partial to RPG soundtracks than shmup ones anyway. I want to damn well PLAY UD

It's not like Zero Gunner at all. You don't have free aim for the rotation of your coptor. It can fire straigh ahead or 30 degrees to either side. It seems to have a little bit of an oldschool seibu or toaplan influence.Soldato J wrote:Soldato J wrote:This one kinda slipped under my radar (so anxiously awaiting Ibara and Pop'n Music 12). Does anyone know if this will have replays like Border Down did? I know it can save replays, but I like having strategy vids for shooters (I know not everyone likes them, but they help me grasp the subtleties).
My regular edition copy shipped from PA today, so I guess they have those in stock now too. Man, this game is looking sweet. I'm pretty dedicated to Ibara right now, but I couldn't resist UD... gonna have to bust out the VGA setup for this bad boy.

Got my copy today. WOW! This game has some heavy eye candy. The explosions are way better than Ibara's IMO. Sometimes the smoke kind of hides things, but not too often. Gets hard really fast. Can get to stage 3 after a few plays, but level 4 is a big increase in difficulty. I'm really impressed with the graphics.
The controls are a little weird at first. I know it wasn't supposed to control like ZG2, but it would have been nice if you ship would turn 360º. The 3rd boss has a part where he goes behind you and you can't shoot him; it'd be nice to turn the damn thing around.
Overall, one of the best shooters for the DC. I can safely say it's the best looking shooter on the DC. I can't believe they could squeeze so much out of the DC to make this game.
OVERALL: This game is absolutely gorgeous!

EDIT: Typos and some grammar didn't make sense. Frickin' tired.

Unlikely, a seperate Replay DVD was announced at the time the DC version of UD was. *-neoFrogacuda wrote:

No powering up?! As in, your weapon won't becoming more powerful during gameplay if icons are picked up? That's a little dissapointing for me, since I like a whole lot of firepower in my shmups. I guess bomb usage will play a big role in Under Defeat then, as well as the options.neon wrote:[*]There is no powering up, only switching shot/option types.
