The power ups definitely have an annoying randomness in their movement, regularly dying trying to catch one of them.
Steel is my favourite ship so far but a lot of Hansen love in this thread, will definitely try him out next time.
I'm still far away from the technical bonus but I'll get there, for our team!

This game really goes out of its way trying to hide the enemy bullets. It's almost rare that I'm fully aware of what kills me when I die :3

Apart from that, I'm really liking it.

How do you know Mifune was used? The world record is 1.4mill. I have some trouble to imagine how this was achieved, even with those rocks.

It's not too far off tho.
Through save states I managed to end the first loop with around 630,000. Assuming you can get around the same amount of points in the second loop, there's also a bonus section near the end of the game where you shoot the credits text for points. If you destroy all of it, it appears to add up to 138,500. That almost adds up to 1.4m

The way most of the bosses and midbosses are can't help but remind me of Regalsin.

Both make me consider if the author was high, fully sane, or just fucking around to make people mad and confused.
Play for fun and win when you can.

Every boss in this game (particularly stage 1 obviously) looks like an glitch. What's not to love about that. Hell, the game starts you out right off the bat, fighting some big pile of uninitialized video memory!

Yeah, I really like at the end of the first boss, for a tiny second what looks like Gordon Freeman's head flies off into space.

Oh I see, the real difficulty on this game is at picking power-ups, not dodging bullets. Love how Kaneko made it look and play like a kusoge on purpose.

Satanic Galaxy Express best midboss.

The real challenge is dodging all of the shitty power-ups that bounce around on-screen for five fucking minutes before disappearing. That and the bullets you can't see.

I thought that was Gary Oldman.

I had 1 more bomb than usual from random drops, does that affect anything?
EDIT: yeah, if you pick up a 7th bomb, the game just freezes and reboots

Well at least that makes the RNG bombs a less big deal since there's a low cap... It's a feature!

It's like the opposite of Sand Scorpion

I am seeing neither of these issues. Instead, I'm having trouble trying to actually collect powerups I want because they keep running away from me. Lonely world, etc.

I'm not having trouble seeing the bullets but I do have a tendency to get point-blanked. Trying to catch powerups is annoying, though none of them feel so bad next to that silly 1-up.

It might be an emulation or monitor issue, I'm not used to playing in mame at all. But the enemy bullets definitely seem to zip all over the screen when I'm fully powered. If I'm not expecting the enemy to be taking a shot before it does it, I will be hit. It's like playing an early Psikyo game :P

Just got done playing for a bit and came here to say just exactly that. First shmup I've played in over a year and it's absolutely destroying me when I get to the helicopters fullypowered at the end of stage 2. If I'm not powered up it's a piece of cake, but otherwise their spread is too fast for my flat brain to even comprehend.

It's easier to dodge near the left or right edge of the screen.

the spread killed me a ton too
it's an oldschool shmup, killing stuff before the bad stuff happens is a core mechanic and so is not dying so things die fast with full power
like the yellow things at the beginning of st5, just point blank them before they shoot the indestructible bullets
