Hi,

First off I would like to apologize if this has been known all along and I come off like an ignorant twit barging in like this, but I've been playing some of the later Cave games repeatedly to get better at them, Dai Ou Jou and Dai Fukkatsu in particular (I'm only now beginning to fully appreciate what a masterpiece Dai Ou Jou is).

What I didn't realize at first was that in Dai Fukkatsu, you can use rapid fire and the laser at the same time - considerably enhancing your damage output and making 1CCing it a non-ludicrous prospect anymore. Interestingly, none of the gameplay I've watched on Youtube so far (which isn't much) uses this feature, using either rapid fire or the laser, which I assumed to be a key gameplay mechanic in the series.

I'm playing it on MAME, by the way.

Surely I'm not the first person to realize this, right?..

Are you playing DFK 1.5 or Black Label? In BL Laser+Shot is a key feature of the game, and doing so raises the rank meter displayed at the top of the screen.

I've never played BL (only BL Arrange) but that reminds me of the Shot + Laser mechanic found in SDOJ's Xbox 360 mode, which I think is a ton of fun.

Please do give DDP-DFK Black Label a spin to see what significant changes Cave made over it's initial release of DDP-DFK version 1.5 STG release. Auto bombing functionality can be turned off if so desired. Can't say that with Cave's DDP-DFK v1.5 variant STG release though as auto-bombing is already set in stone from the get-go with no way to turn it off. Some folks are turned off by that very pressing issue alone and resort to getting a DDP-DFK BL pcb just to be afforded the luxury of turning "off" auto-bombing. Quite expensive to get ahold of one but well worth it in the end assuming if one has $$$$ to burn -- just might have to move heaven & earth to get one though (not to mention making a huge dent in one's wallet/purse).

no, the dfkbl pcb is utter shite
it can't display the HUD or even the bullets at times because the hardware is trash
the 360 port is objectively the best option here
or be a big dick lad and play power mode in 1.5, then you don't have to deal with autobombs

Or just play 1.0 with no autobombing either. Don't understand why they added it in 1.5. Terrible decision not having the option.

1.0 is a joke
it counterstops not even 10% into the score potential, there is no hyper rank whatsoever so you cancel everything super easily and your bomb stock fully refills with every pickup
not to mention the TLB has safespots
it might even be easier than 1.5

The feature is on Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label only.
At this rate, I won’t be interested into shmups anymore. I am no longer going to be active in this forum from now on. I am more interested into Kemono Friends, rhythm games, D4DJ, Puzzle Games, Hololive, and Pretty Cure.
