Arcade "boss-heavy" run'n'guns?

Post by qmish »

After debating about Cuphead vs. Contra Hard Corps vs. Alien Soldier etc., i have a question. What were arcade run'n'guns with similar focus on boss fights?

Geo Storm. Not as heavy as the three you mentioned, but it's the closest thing.

There's this boss-centric, arcade-only sidescroller I'm trying to recall... it's pretty obscure, was mentioned here at least once within the last few years. IIRC the art style was sort of Gunstar-esque too. Will look around a bit in case nobody else gets it.

I hope you don't mean that game where you play as cute bird or animal and vegetables and fruits are your weapons. It was psychedelic but i'd say pretty demanding on stages themselves.

Ah, "Metro". They were doing some rhythm games, too? Or my mistake...

Interesting. :o They seem like one of those smaller JP arcade devs ala Visco and Mitchell, at a glance.

They made a bunch of arcade games back in the 90's.

Oh yeah, Bust-A-Move rhythm games for ps1/ps2 (including stylish britney spears one) and, now i see, some arcades for arcades.
Wondering why GunMaster is so popular with korean youtube

Looks pretty good!
Making a run 'n' gun with a transforming grappling hook: ChainStaff. Also made a shmup with multi-ships: Shoot 1UP DX, and more .
