Arcade "boss-heavy" run'n'guns?
Arcade "boss-heavy" run'n'guns?
After debating about Cuphead vs. Contra Hard Corps vs. Alien Soldier etc., i have a question. What were arcade run'n'guns with similar focus on boss fights?

Geo Storm. Not as heavy as the three you mentioned, but it's the closest thing.

Thanks! But i already knew it, even wanted to mention in OP.

There's this boss-centric, arcade-only sidescroller I'm trying to recall... it's pretty obscure, was mentioned here at least once within the last few years. IIRC the art style was sort of Gunstar-esque too. Will look around a bit in case nobody else gets it.

Maybe something like Outfoxies?
Typos caused by cat on keyboard.

The arcade megaman games are all boss fights.

I hope you don't mean that game where you play as cute bird or animal and vegetables and fruits are your weapons. It was psychedelic but i'd say pretty demanding on stages themselves.BIL wrote:There's this boss-centric, arcade-only sidescroller I'm trying to recall... it's pretty obscure, was mentioned here at least once within the last few years. Ah, "Metro". They were doing some rhythm games, too? Or my mistake...zinger wrote:I'm pretty the designers are Japanese. Wonder if it was ever released in Japan though?

Interesting.
They seem like one of those smaller JP arcade devs ala Visco and Mitchell, at a glance.

Making a run 'n' gun with a transforming grappling hook: ChainStaff. Also made a shmup with multi-ships: Shoot 1UP DX, and more .
