It's a GSU-2 game, so it's compatible with Doom, Yoshi's Island, and Winter Gold.

Is it possible to disable that feature, or do you just have to push yourself to not use it? I think it's sad that officially released products have built in cheat devices that are so easy to access, but I get that it's the gist of the times.

Like Fudoh said, you have to get up and press the reset button. If it were as simple as a combination of button presses or something, it would be tempting to use it more often, as it is, well, unless the console is sitting right next to you it could get a bit frustrating. The way it works is a save state is created when you hit reset-- but when you load the state you can basically load any of the last 30 or so seconds that occured before the save state was written. I have read that the available rewind time varies from game to game, but I think it was around 30 for SGNG, which is where I first fiddled with it.

As others have said, I have not seen any visual noise either, so if its there you'd probably have to use a capture device to grab a frame, then blow it up to see anything.

Another interesting tidbit-- Ive tried two different USB cellphone/tablet chargers and both of them power up the SNES Classic micro just fine-- on the flip side, I tried to use the Classic USB block and cable to charge my daughters Samsung 10" tablet, and it DOES NOT charge it. No idea why...perhaps Nintendo only wired certain pins rather than the entire USB pinout.

If you order this wireless controller you can return to main home menu with Down+Select.

Indeed. I will probably purchase that controller if I decide to open my SNES Mini. Seems like there are reports of noise in the picture.
Still holding out hope that Analogue does a SNES version of their Nt mini in the near future. :D

That being the case, does that mean that the SNES Classic can be reflashed with the NES Classic software and used as an NES Classic?

Give it a week or so until hakchi is updated and you will be able to do this without the need of a new controller.

Is the frame rate of this game any better on the mini?
Also, are there any changes from the prototype floating around? Language, grammar, graphics, etc?

Edit: just found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GfKFXbhN0Q
Confirms quite a few differences.

It looks like the rom has been released as well.... unfortunately still unplayable on a flash cart.

Someone successfully dumped the rom onto a super fx donor cart and got it running on a real SNES:

I would keep the Stunt Race ROM chip. Maybe even put a small bread board in so i can switch them at will.

The microSNES outputs at 720p, but it's letterboxing games that have a height of 240. Why wouldn't you just 3x multiply and then 11:10 stretch if you want?

they have a visible of height of 224, the rest is overscan that would have been hidden if you played them on a crt.

I still don't understand why they didn't scale the display so it doesn't look windowed top-to-bottom. Thankfully, it's close enough that I don't notice when running without frames.

If they had done that, people would just complain it wasn't vertically integer scaled.

Ah, I forgot about the 16 lines. My mistake.

I'm in that group :-)

I got my SNES Classic yesterday and had a chance to play some games on it for an hour. I have to admit I'm impressed. They improved on many of the mistakes they made on the NES Classic, and the emulation is quite good. Sound seems pretty accurate, though I'm going to make some recordings and compare them to my digital-audio modded SNES.

Let me clarify - they should have included the same basic option that's in the Wii U, to scale the entire image slightly to best fit an individual TV. People like me could have eliminated the slight borders above and below, and people who care about "integer scaling" to the detriment of how things actually LOOK could leave it at the default. Oh well.

Integer scaling can also be argued to be closer to how it should 'actually' look because the pixels will be evenly sized for external scanline applications. Furthermore, the 16 black lines also can show up to a varying degree on CRTs depending on the vertical size settings of a given set. Those black lines really are there in these 224 consoles.

I know, I know. It isn't even "argued to be closer"; you're correct. Point is, the tiny, tiny bit of stretching that would be done to remove those 16 black lines would result in no practical visual difference at viewing distance, but would make all the difference in the world for presentation by going edge-to-edge.

We're not talking about stretching the games into 16:9 here. It would be like a 7% enlargement while maintaining the aspect ratio.
