I don't get the whole mobile thing.
Can we just get a desktop Linux (or Windows) release?

i can't access it anymore. But i remember they were talking about choosing mobile platform as a road to future, and not going back to traditional platforms.
Though, they also were saying that international release is unlikely.
edit:
Looks like i have this quote from it in this thread:
When we announced Aka to Blue, we got some criticism that said “shooters that you can’t play with an arcade controller are boring”, and “why don’t you release this on PC?” However, since the smartphone is currently the platform that’s most embraced by all ages, I think it’s the optimal place to release shooters in order to get your game played by as many people as possible. There isn’t even the barrier of having to buy the hardware. As the times change, so do the platforms that people play games on. If shooting games evolve along with the new platforms, they won’t fade away. As developers, we have to propose ways of playing on these platforms, and hope that the gameplay we’ve provided will be seen as something new in the eyes of players. We can’t move forward if people give up on games just because they can’t be played how they used to. And of course, it doesn’t help anybody if whole game genres disappear along with older platforms.

You can't play with touch controls on PC. It's of course, a different experience, but a quite addictive one if done right (see Danmaku Unlimited series, cave mobile ports and a few more).
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
If (or when) it becomes available where I live I will buy it. I'm personally not super fond of mobile shooting for a large variety of reasons and would greatly prefer and appreciate if they released a regular PC version, but I'd still go ahead and buy it because the price doesn't really hurt me (EUR 7) and it would help to keep the lights on. Maybe if the success is there they will reconsider their platform strategy.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
On one hand I'd love to support them, but on the other hand I'd like to see a return to traditional arcade controls.
I'm sure I'll buy it, but they won't get the message.

Here's the link to the Android port of Aka to Blue: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... blue&hl=en
Sounds like it requires a beefy smartphone just to be able to run it/play it properly with a minimum of 3GB of RAM or more & a Quadcore CPU setup.
------------------------------
Not to mention this disclaimer: ■■ CAUTION ■■
*The Android version of this application allows you to choose between Low and High Quality Settings. Note that the ""Low"" setting is set as default to prevent the chipset from over-heating.
------------------------------
So if you run the Aka to Blue app on the "High Setting", do you run the risk of a smartphone's chipset of overheating? Dang, sounds like the ol' smartphone will need some adequate cooling measures if that's the case here.
------------------------------
Another disclaimer mentions this:
We also do not guarantee application performance in the following cases:
・Playing while charging the battery
・Long, continuous play sessions
・Playing when the battery is less than 30%
------------------------------
A mere $8.49 buys it and it's yours to keep.
Runs on Android 6.0 and up.
Cool to learn that the music is done by none other than WASi303 aka Tetsuro Sato (the same guy whom did the BGMs for the Taito G-Net versions of Psyvariar Medium Unit, Psyvariar Revision & Sega Naomi version of Psyvariar 2: The Will to Fabricate among some of the other STG BGMs composed over the years).
The game listing make no mention about if Aka to Blue will run on a Android powered tablet setup. Hmmm...I'll have to see if it will.

Says that on the Japanese Apple Store that Aka to Blue does support the iPad mini 2 with iOS 9 and above but with option to select between Low & High settings + with a 960 yen pricetag. It's also a 206 mb download indeed.
On the Google Play Store site, it says that the Android port of Aka to Blue is a mere 85.31 mb download at best. And it's no cigar for me, as it says on the Google Play Store that my Samsung tablet isn't compatible with Aka to Blue.

Android apps have a bad habit of downloading huge chunk of game after you installed it which requires active and alive game servers...PC Engine Fan X! wrote: On the Google Play Store site, it says that the Android port of Aka to Blue is a mere 85.31 mb download at best.

I installed it an hour ago and played to level 3, it has not installed anything else than the initial 85 MiB.qmish wrote:Android apps have a bad habit of downloading huge chunk of game after you installed it which requires active and alive game servers...

This is a solid game, very much recommended to all

It's out on iOS now as well. Bought!
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
A little technical note: If you happen to be on Android 8 already, you need to manually configure permissions, they don't seem to have implemented and tested against the current permission management and the game also does not catch it gracefully. But once you do, everything runs just fine.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Sorry, but what an amateurish piece of shit code. GTFO.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Initial impressions for my amatuer shmup brain are extremely positive (on iOS). When the first stage tilts, I was tilting my ipad!

Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Yeah just got this myself and am overall quite impressed. I still haven't figured out a comfortable way to play for more than a stage or 2 at a time though, my hands get seriously cramped. Any ideas?
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Well tell us Mr.Wise what's wrong with it? I am looking forward to buying it personally.spmbx wrote:Sorry, but what an amateurish piece of shit code. GTFO.
Zenodyne R - My 2nd Steam Shmup
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Played it on a Samsung tablet and got to the last boss in level 5 on the first try. Are there any difficultyy settings to make it more difficult. Its VERY easy for a Cave-ish shmup.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
That's because it is not.OlDirty wrote:Its VERY easy for a Cave-ish shmup.

Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Did you have autobomb on? It is on by default. Probably should try turning it off.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Yep had it on. Thats the only thing you can make it harder?
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
I wonder how is your experience/skill/etc., maybe you are "too good"? Sorry
just curious
On a related note, i can't beat yet 5-A stage in Dodonpachi Maximum, while first 3 stages in that route from it were pretty easy

Silly question.
Will this run on a Android 6s phone?

A Hardcore gamers reaction to the Lack of Kinect games. Apparently i could of played Dodonpachi with it if i beat a entirely in Japanese Visual Novel piece of shit game called Instant Brain

Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Well this internation release reports that my phone is compatible (unlike the japanese version which says it isn't), but it only has 2 gigs of RAM so it probably won't run well. Gonna pass for now.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Just FYI: When something says "your device isn't compatible" it may not say anything about your device at all - Google Play uses this same message to indicate your region isn't allowed to buy. So one does simply not know if it's the device/API-revision blacklist or the region.OmegaFlareX wrote:Well this internation release reports that my phone is compatible (unlike the japanese version which says it isn't), but it only has 2 gigs of RAM so it probably won't run well. Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
I have an Android phone with 2GiB memory and the game runs without any issues on it. Besides you can ask for a refund if you don't like it.OmegaFlareX wrote:Well this internation release reports that my phone is compatible (unlike the japanese version which says it isn't), but it only has 2 gigs of RAM so it probably won't run well. =the systemrequirements, considering how it looks and what it does
=can't handle android8's permission management. Reminder: we're talking about a new game here.
=warning that playing the game for some time might overheat your device
=performance not guaranteed on charger
If you think there's nothing wrong with that, we clearly have a different idea of what good code is like. When i think about the crashes i had on one of their first ios releases, and the fact they can't be bothered to update their older games the picture doesn't really get any better, eventhough strictly speaking that's not related to this release.
Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
This isn't cave. This is some former cave developers though. Not sure if it's the same folks that were responsible for their mobile ports.
Your loss though. This is a great game. Enemy designs are nice. Patterns are great. Even the backgrounds are interesting and dynamic. I even like the way the screen fuzzes out if you lose a life. Im. It sure how it will hold up in the long run but I'm enjoying it now. I find it difficult enough and there are no continues.
I'm betting there are some hidden things as well.

Re: Ex-CAVE members reform as TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd.
Would anyone mind giving a brief gameplay summary as well as a rundown of how the touch screen controls function? I'm wanting to pick this up but bombing / special attacks with a virtual button don't usually work well for me on a touch screen. I'm hoping they've added some clever mechanic to make this more suited to touch screen (like multitouch tap to bomb or something)
