looking at the PGM page over at System16, the hardware doesnt seem too complex (20 mhz cpu, etc) although I'm no tech dude. I guess the encryption might be problematic. some non-cave games are already emulated though, and recently demon front was added to mame though its not playable yet, which to me makes the mame teams "we wont do newer (shooting)games for a while"-statement a while back a bit hollow. I'll bet there's at least a couple of mame devs that would like to work on ketsui if it gets dumped. and even if it takes a couple of years before its up and running in mame properly, it would probably still happen faster than a port...ill6 wrote:But PGM hardware (Ketsui, Espgaluda, DDP DOJ) has not been cracked yet has it so even if he had a board it would take a while I guess.
I don't think that the typical Mame PC could cope with the above games.

All PGM games currently in MAME:

According to the "TODO" section, Nebula correctly emulates the ARM processor decoding needed to break the game encryption for other titles. I don't use/follow Nebula, so I can't verify this.

first up ketsui, next up, dangun feveron. third, dodonpachi II (i do know it wasn't actually made by them. i'm just disgruntled it doesn't work properly in mame).
edit: side note. the only reason why ketsui wins over dangun is i haven't played it yet. that air of mystery is strong.

Eek... I'll take Guwange before DDP II... not that it's any fair comparison..
So with people so sure of a ESP II port, I think I'd have to go with Ketsui also given the two choices, and I already have the PCB... Kind of wish my supergun wasn't so messy to set up...

Feeeveeerrrr!!!!!
I'd like to have even only the soundtrack...
For the Ketsui/Galuda II poll, I couldn't choose... Ketsui is beautiful for it's great difficulty, in terms of scoring like of surviving, while Galuda II offers more challenging levels and patterns (of its prequel) to be milked with the wonderful Kakusei system, really different from Ketsui close-firing one... The games are too different to make a coherent choice, from my point of view...
Woul'd the right choice probably be BOTH???

Yes!
But, honestly, all of us here know that they will surely port Galuda II and never Ketsui, since doesn't seem that they have intention to port older games... Esp ra. de., Guwange, Progear and other great gems affordable at home with about 56 US dollars is actually a beautiful dream...
Let's save money for PCBs...

ESPGaluda II actually adopts this to an extent. To get the most gems, you must destroy enemies from extreme close range with the shot.the wonderful Kakusei system, really different from Ketsui close-firing one...
On the ESPRade / Guwange double pack argument, I do think Atlus is pretty stupid for not riding the retro wave, or the Cave wave. This would've sold really well, I'm sure.
