The 3D models are pretty cool! I just wish there were some sound effects, they could really add a lot to the video.
I used to watch another one that also depicts a SA fight :

The character models are not as detailed but I like the battle choregraphy. However, some of the later music choices lack some punch to me.

I was told to watch this and it was absolutely stunning how godawful it was, by far and away teh worst touhou thing i've ever seen, EVER and i have not only have i read my fair share of cool doujins and listened to all the tokyo active needs and machikado mapoze goodness you can offer, I have also seen the dark side of the absolutely gut wrenching fandom which results in numerous unfunny videos made by epic 14 year olds, horrid music, lifeless animation, and contents that would make any grown man cringe, but still nothing tops this absolute turd of a video subterranean stars. What a disgraceful travesty, FFS

13 minutes long and minusT still forgot bucket loli
I really like the character models, and the animation seems to be mostly high quality, but I can't stand the camera angles/movement. When I watched it I was constantly struggling to see what was going on, which is a far cry from what it's like to play the actual game. Also, this may just be me, but I'm always disappointed when animators make Touhou movies and choose to represent their attacks as patterns of abstract colored circles like they appear in the game. It's fun to play against and aids in the clarity of the action in a 2D setting, but isn't terribly interesting to watch in a movie, especially when it's in 3D and the camera doesn't let you see the whole pattern anyway. Granted this might be how danmaku is "supposed" to look canonically (I never bothered checking against the print media) but I'd like to see some more creative and freeform uses of the characters' themes and their magical abilities in ways that don't necessarily translate well to a bullet hell game.

The idea is neat.
...but those faces are deeply horrifying, hot fuck.
camerawork could use some work [it needs to chill out just a little], and visibility was pretty poor -- if the patterns weren't eye-searingly bright, maybe I could have enjoyed looking at them
a few scenes had visible artifacting from Blender's ray-tracer, but that's probably just because the author didn't feel like waiting absolutely forever for it to render
The animations are pretty solid.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
Re: Touhou 3d movies?
I actually like this a lot, mostly the attention to detail in danmaku flow/sense and their patterns in correlation to the characters from the real game.
3DCG is difficult dude. This took a lot of work.

You think I was joking or sarcastic or something...? No goddamnit that video is about as bad as that infamous star wars prequel trilogy, worthless soulless trash. JEEZ. OK, I admit it comess off as a bit strong, so maybe that's why I was misunderstood. I don't really kid around though, I'm pretty serious about my opinions. That's what I meant before. If you think I'm joking, then you should always think again.
Re: Touhou 3d movies?
Poe's Law works both ways and now I'm thoroughly confused.
