Finally made it to stage 4, hooray! :D

4,897,840 - TWE - Stage 4 - Bond (Type D) - PS2

Also, here's an arrange mode score. Still much to learn in this mode, but I'm starting to get the hang of it:

35,365,410 - TWE - Stage 5 - Bond (Type D) - PS2

Finally got the extra life on the mid boss, makes the second half of stage 4 a lot easier but still died on the blue flame boss attack.

4,697,660 - freddiebamboo - Stage 4 - Bond [Type A] - PS2 Arcade

Still need a lot of practice on stage 3 to arrive at the boss with a hadou regularly. The mid boss and the final 3 trains together usually require a bomb right now.

2,860,400 - Sensato Kurai - stage 3 - Dyne [Type D]- PS2 Arcade Mode

Starting to understand the play mechanics better. I find it much harder to reach 10K medals in the first place than to keep em'. Oh and, on a sidenote, damn I like that Double Area Blast! Focusing on tightening my game with those free side-options now.

2,817,460 - it290 - Stage 2 - Bond (Type C) - PS2/Arcade

My best run of the day for chaining. Broke 1 million on stage 1, which is always a good sign for me. Got up to 9k medals on stage 1, then managed to hit every 'medal dispenser' on stage 2 except for one. Got taken out by the boss, otherwise I think I would have reached my target for the weekend (3 mil). I'll do a few more runs later. I like the free-form nature of this game, you can miss a few scoring opportunities and still be OK. The randomness of some of the attacks means you have to be on guard, too. I'm also liking the Type C ship -- its bomb is decent and its speed allows you to scoop up medals even when you don't catch them immediately.

Woops! Apologies for the double post, but I had another go and managed to improve my score a fair amount:

3,693,580 - it290 - Stage 3 - Bond (Type C) - PS2/Arcade

Didn't chain the first two stages as well this time, but managed to hold the 10k medals halfway through stage 3. Almost cleared the stage 3 boss but the blue ball/sword combo did me in- kinda frustrating since I managed to dodge the pattern 3 times or so before I died.

just got this on ps2, will post up a score when i get a chance to have a good session on it. does anyone know if there are other ships? i've gathered that type a-d changes bomb type and speed, but is there not different ships entirely like on Garegga? one ship for each player seems a little arse.

Arcade Normal
2761080- gameoverDude- Stage 2 - Bond Type A - PS2

This one ended right on Midi's last form.

Nice. A rolling formation could be a pisser in stage 2 if it takes out one of those refineries that you intend to bomb. Same goes for the Search- it may be good on bosses, but IMO not during the stages. I highly doubt that I'll bother using Dyne, since Bond's faster speed is an asset with the medals as well.[/quote]

The different "types" in Ibara affects your main shot as well as your speed and bomb (and maybe more than that, I'm honestly not sure), so each "type" is pretty different, more so than the "types" in Garegga, which would only affect your speed and/or hitbox. In effect, you get 8 different ships to fiddle around with, though I still say that selecting them is a lot more cumbersome than it has to be...c'mon, what ever happened to tossing in a freakin' ship selection screen? :P

New score:

ARCADE MODE
4,431,100 - it290 - Stage 3 - Bond (Type C) - PS2

Man, trimming those legs on my tate table sure helped a bit. ;) I actually had two lives in reserve going into Stage 3, and got another with the extend, but blew them all in the stage and then lost my last life on the boss - I think I pissed her off too bad with the napalm. The extra lives I had in the stage were kind of thrown away as I was trying to collect as many bomb fragments as possible, but after losing all my reserve ships I wimped out on the last half of the stage and ended up bombing the crap out of everything, ending up at the boss with only a few bomb fragments left. I'll have to practice Stage 3 quite a bit before I can get to Stage 4 in a respectable fashion.

I can see that 4M mark coming any day now. The 10K medal run was kept going for a good while, into the middle of stage 3.

32,920,320 - Herr Schatten - Stage 5 - Dyne (Type D) - PS2

Died at the fifth boss again.

Not my best run, survival-wise. I had another run with a score of roughly 25 million points in which I nearly beat the second form (the flying one) of Dr. Teresa. She only had two pixels of her energy bar left. :x

Easy game, but i think that Midi is unbalanced. Still, Yagawa is in good shape, i see...
going for the quick 1-CC for the moment, just to get a grasp of the game.

Finally completed it. Rank has never been that much fun. No, really.

From my better score runs I know that I could finish arrange mode with at least 10 mil more (and I think better players could do even better), but it also would be perfectly possible to beat it with 10 mil less. It's really fun to exploit the rank system for score.

Now I think I might try arcade mode. (At least until my copy of Radirgy isn't held at customs anymore.)
