Well, consider this your next chance to recommend me something else
I am thinking about finally sitting down and check out this thing called
Bobby's in Deep ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) which I have had laying around on my disk for quite some time now.
You like mecha-anime right? Maybe you will like
Relic Armor Legaciam. It's a fun little OVA. The ending is meh but otherwise it is a fun experience, it has a ton of charm. I'm a sucker for the
young-mecha-rider-with-huge-potential-but-right-now-he-or-she-sucks-and-must-overcome-some-hurdles trope, so this one pleases me

Plus, I like the mecha designs, with their bat-like head. And I also dig the world setting, which, just like in
The Wings Of Honneamise, feels like a parralel universe where things looks kinda like they do in our world, yet all are a bit different.
It's a fun watch and definitely worth it. It's not gonna change your life, but it's gonna entertain you. It's a single 50 minutes OVA. Only place I have ever seen it online is on youtube :

Just watched it and I had a great time
Cool mecha designs and nice drawing style/character designs, not to mention pretty awesome music - Loving that ending theme!
ひろえ純 / 愛に帰りたい -We Need Love-:

If I ever end up owning a car or bike, I need to speed around the night blasting this.
Speaking of music, about 17 minutes in, there's this tune which sounds very much like "
Want Your Love" from City Hunter, like, eerily so.
Thought that was pretty interesting
But yeah, that was a fun watch and the abrupt ending left me wanting another 15-30 min of runtime.
Like you said, the world seemed pretty interesting and I wanted to know a bit more about it. I wonder if this originally was going to be a much bigger project like a full length movie or TV-series that just ended up compressed.
Anyway, always fun to see there's still fun stuff out there I haven't heard about before!
Have you seen
The Tokyo Project/Tokyo Vice?
It doesn't rank very highly but I like it
And if I haven't mentioned it already, I also recommend a little OVA called
NINETEEN19.
It's a quite enjoyable light romance drama, especially if you like the music as that is a big part of it. It introduced me to Toshiki Kadomatsu, an artist I've really come to like, even got my hands the album SEA IS A LADY from which it borrows some tracks.
As you say, one-off OVAs like this won't change your life but it's sure nice to watch something potentially fresh and interesting without having to commit to an entire TV series.

Congratulations for getting to the end of it! That is no easy task if you ask me.
My favorite Zeta mecha is defintely the Gundam Mk-II. It is even one of my favorite Gundams. Just like you, I am torn on the titular suit, though its waverider form is pretty cool (even after you see the recycled transformation sequence for the billionth time)
I look forward to reading your ZZ Gundam / F91 impressions!
I very much look forward to that as well, maybe especially F91. I'm trying to get some friends along for the ride too, seeing as I guess it should be somewhat easy to see without any prior knowledge...I think, at least.
