PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
Does anyone use a PS360+ with a PS2? Could they confirm whether it works with Cave games please.
It works for every other game I've tried but just not cave stuff. I'm in contact with the manufacturers but just wondered if anyone else could check.
Cheers

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
Don't see why it would be a problem. I have some PS360+s enroute, and hope to wire them into my Kraylix this weekend. I'll post back with my results, as I can't wait to play some PS1/PS2/DC games on my cab!

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
I've had terrible luck with PS1/2 shmups using the PS360+.
If you happen to figure out any trick to get it working, please report back.

I can get the PS360+ to work with PS1 games on my PS2 slim when no memory card is inserted... makes no sense because it works fine in the PS2 system menu...

Have you tried plugging the stick in again after the game starts? That's what I have to do when I use mine with my DC, for whatever reason.

I also have to do that with my DC, but it doesn't work with my PSX...Lord of Pirates wrote:Have you tried plugging the stick in again after the game starts? That's what I have to do when I use mine with my DC, for whatever reason.

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
Have you tried the force-mode?
That should force it into PSX mode.
Plug in your stick, hold down 1K (Light-Kick) and turn on your playstation.PS360SoftwareOverview.pdf wrote:Forced Modes
Although the PS360+ supports smart detection of the supported systems, it is
possible to force the specifically wanted mode in case the detection is not
working as designed or you want a specific mode to be run.
1P = PS3/PC 2P = Xbox 360 3P = Dreamcast
1K = PSx 2K = Xbox 1
That should force it into PSX mode.

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
I have. It makes it "work," but it's unplayable.opt2not wrote:Have you tried the force-mode?
For example, holding hard left or right on the stick moves a ship over a single pixel space every second or two and just starting a game requires me to mash the start button repeatedly...
It's almost as if it randomly registers every 5th or 6th input

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
Oh man, I thought this was going to fix it. I kept trying different things and nothing and then just randomly it started working. I restarted the machine and I can't recreate what I did to get it workingRaidenViper wrote:I can get the PS360+ to work with PS1 games on my PS2 slim when no memory card is inserted... makes no sense because it works fine in the PS2 system menu...

Thanks for the other suggestions. I've tried force mode and re-plugging it in after the game has started.

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
Guys, I've been in touch with Akishop and have some interesting comments back from them:
"Saturn is soon finished, we know people ask about this a lot. Do you have Saturn? Maybe you can help us test something…
Also, PSX is done for a real update, we know this and working on a solution. Right now PS4 and XBone is a priority."
I guess "PSX is done for a real update" means the issue I'm experiencing could soon be fixed.

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
Just bumping this to keep it alive.
Every so often I send a message to Akishop support, asking when they will be supporting other systems like Saturn, SNES, GC, TG16/PCE, etc...
I really don't want to have to resort to replacing all my PS360+'s in exchange for MC Cthulu (though in retrospec I should have probably gone with the MC), having bought 4 of them for my cabinets and arcade stick set-ups.
The last message I sent them was in regards to the PSX mode problems. They said it's known, and are working on an update to resolve this. But it wasn't clear whether that was going to be in the next firmware release. IMO, fixing PSX mode should be a priority, given that we will have to wait a while for all the aforementioned systems are supported, so in the meantime we can still use PSX adapters while we wait...if that mode worked.
They also sent me a teaser pic on the next retro system they're working on:

I really hope the next firmware rollout fixes PSX.

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
Update from their site:
Hopefully this means we'll start seeing more regular updates in regards to older systems.PS360+ Software Update and Software Overview PDF Update. PS4 support via autodetect (8 minute timeout), forced PS3 BC mode with 1P+2P.
PS4 Breakdown:
When we announced PS4 capabilities, it was because we got the firmware communicating with the system perfectly, with all inputs being reported including menu and in game commands. However, the PS4 currently utilizes a periodic authentication over the wireless channel that, currently as a wired peripheral, we cannot bypass. This authentication occurs slowly, and only after a period of 8 minutes will it stop receiving commands from the controller, requiring a re-plug into the system. The night we announced, we saw things working, but the 8 minutes was never reached during initial testing so we did not see the issue until after announcing. This was a mistake on our part, mostly because we, just as you, were excited as the prospect of new system compatibility with existing hardware. We got excited and announced too soon. The beta testers saw this issue while giving feedback, and unfortunately we have exhausted our options and will need to come up with a new plan moving forward. We apologize for any inconvenience and the delay in this statement, but we will be looking at new avenues to approach the issue at hand to hopefully allow this compatibility in the near future either through direct firmware update or through hardware expansion. Please feel free to use the current firmware as is, any feedback while using it is appreciated.
Other: With the latest developments leaving us a little stuck for next gen support, we will be focusing our attention on legacy support and improving the current compatibilities. We are aware that PSx is in need of updating, so we will be focusing more on that in the coming months (July 9th, 2014).

Updated board: We've updated the hardware to address a problem found in the previous build. Thanks to players like Teyah, zejoeh, and Four Wude, it was discovered that in the Xbox 360 support there was an intermittent 1 frame of lag and what appeared as random simultaneous input issues, this did not appear on the other USB based systems. The new version fixes this, and was confirmed with testing from the aforementioned users. There are no other known issues. Find technical details here.

Yup...and still no fixes to the PSX connectivity issues.

Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
Finally heard back from them, it's from the date or after. Hopefully they'll still be providing FW updates to the older board for those of us that bought one early.
Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
I wasn't quite sure whether it meant that the bug only affected the boards made after that date or all previous boards but they'll only repair ones made after that date. Anyone know?
Re: PS360+ and Cave PS2 games
I'm considering a PS360+ upgrade for my custom arcade stick, primarily with a focus on PS2 games, but while retaining my current X360/PS3 support.
So I am curious, what is the current state of this issue? The akishop website of course claims that it is supported, but a google search will only return forum threads similar to this, repporting that problem. If I buy a PS360+ PCB now, should it support PS1 and 2 out of the box?
Also curious about the potential for future (actual) PS4 support. Not sure if anyone would know, but is it possible for them to overcome the 8 minute lockout with a future firmware update, or should I hold out on buying this, hoping for a future hardware upgrade?
