So I see magewell has one, and I also see Blackmagic Design also has one. Which is the best? I see the magewell one is much much more expensive.
Blackmagic Design - Intensity Pro 4K (200 euro)
vs
Magewell - Pro Capture HDMI 4K (500 euro)
Considering getting a 4K capture card to use with the PS4 Pro which can handle the HDR colors. Know of any reasonably priced?
as far as I can see the magewell is the only one which can handle rgb in 4k.
Also seems the Pro Capture HDMI 4K Plus (900 euro) can support higher hz, not sure how this would affect me. But it seems to be the card you actually want.
Resonable priced 4K capture card!?

I don't think either of those cards support HDR? You would also need a HDCP stripper that supports 4K and HDR.
It seems way to early to try to get a 4K and HDR capture setup anywhere near cheap.

Re: Resonable priced 4K capture card!?
Seems this is the only capture card which can do HDR, or atleast it can output HDR, but I don't know if it can capture HDR!?
https://www.aja.com/products/io-4k
nevermind, it seems only to use hdmi 1.4a standard, the ps4 pro uses hdmi 2.0a.
Here are the only capture devices which supports 4K and HDR which I could find:
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... /techspecs @ $2,995
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... s/W-DLK-25 @ $1,495

Re: Resonable priced 4K capture card!?
No clue what HDR really needs. Quick Google search seems to tell me it needs 10-bit color and some HDR metadata. At any rate, you still need a HDCP stripper that supports the newest HDCP version. And some playback equipment to verify your recorded footage is good.
Whatever you're doing, it'll be expensive and difficult to setup. What are you doing anyway? Just trying to archive all your gameplay footage?

Just record stuff for fun then putting it up on youtube
But I'm not saving up money and shelving out that amount just to be able to record 4k and hdr. I could purchase many great video games instead

Re: Resonable priced 4K capture card!?
So I had a Blackmagic Design decklink 4k extreme 12g, however bought it on ebay and hdmi2.0b recording was broken. but it worked for hdmi 1.4, kinda pointless for me as I have a datapath card for that. anyways, from experience I can say the card goes very hot. so mine is a paper weight atm, trying to get atleast half my money back. black magic team looked at it and said it was broken and wouldn't repair or replace because warrenty was expired. Lesson learned: Don't buy expensive stuff second hand, especially not on Ebay.
These two cards are the only interesting ones:
Blackmagic Design - DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G <- currently the cheapest available 4K60fps, 4:4:4 HDR card on market, confirmed working with OBS in 1080p atleast (by me) https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... 5#W-DLK-25
Aja KONA 4 <- around $2000 .. https://www.aja.com/products/kona-4
DELTA-h4k2-elp 20 <- Currently asking for a price
These cards are pointless to look at if you want the full proper experience:
Elgato 4K60 PRO <- It's missing HDR and probably just 4:2:0 aswell. tech spec here: https://gaming.help.elgato.com/customer ... ifications
Vertex 4K60 4:4:4 600MHz <- it's not even a capture card. no idea why this pops up in search results
VisionSC-DP2 <- it doesn't not support HDR nor 4:4:4. but I could be wrong, tech spec here: https://www.datapath.co.uk/images/datas ... asheet.pdf
Avermedia CE511HN <- doesn't support HDR and only 4:2:0. https://www.avermedia.com/professional/ ... 11_hn/spec
Avermedia LIVE GAMER PORTABLE 2 PLUS <- doesn't support hdr. specs: http://www.avermedia.com/gaming/product ... ble_2_plus
Magewell Pro Capture HDMI 4K Plus <- doesn't support HDR according to tech specs: http://www.magewell.com/pro-capture-hdmi-4k-plus
avio.4k <- doesn't support 4k or 4:4:4 and only 30fps. https://www.epiphan.com/products/avio-4k/
Atomos Ninja Inferno <- do

Re: Resonable priced 4K capture card!?
How are you going to send 4k@60 w/ 4:4:4 HDR on HDMI 2.0?
You can't. So, you're huntng a unicorn.

Re: Resonable priced 4K capture card!?
Data Rate = 17.82 Gbps
Standard: SMPTE/CTA/DCI Refresh Rate: 60 Resolution: 3840x2160 UHD
Color Bit Depth
Bits Per Color: 8 Chroma Sampling: 4:4:4
You are totally correct, we'll need to wait for hdmi 2.1 for all three.
explained well here:
